Thank you to Vegamour for sponsoring this post by sending products to review. This is not a paid post. All thoughts are my own.
The social media algorithm is a very interesting thing, and it continues to amaze me. The ins and outs of pausing, reading, or watching something on a feed and how that factors into what content is curated for you is the latest and greatest “gotcha” by advertisers of all time. But, being from Gen X, and growing up in the middle of the debut of this technology, I’ve had the benefit of an “inside view” of the guts of social media. It allows me to watch it at arm’s length and become aware of how my behavior affects my results.
But that all being said, the algorithm also knows your brain, so some results (like all my cavalier videos now swarming the feed) are going to come at you. What I didn’t realize was how much I was starting to worry about my stress level after the pandemic took its toll. We’ve got to wear real clothes and go out in public again. That means I need to fix my face and hair, too. But oof; now I’m finding gray hairs. I need to refresh my look… and possibly my strands.
The Honest Vegamour Review
Instagram had some suggestions, for sure. One of them was Vegamour. Before I knew it, it was all over my feed. Videos, stills, and products galore. When an email hit my inbox asking to review a few products, I was ready to dive into it. I had the luxury of not having tried anything from the line before, so an honest Vegamour review was completely possible! The GRO line promotes healthy hair growth as long as you are using the products, with the best results after a few months of regular use. I tried the Vegamour GRO Shampoo and GRO Conditioner, paired with the GRO Biotin Gummies.
The GRO Shampoo
Naturally, the first step in a daily hair routine is a wash. I finally stopped washing my hair every day and now tag it about twice a week. The rest of the time, I’m just boiling myself in the shower, because if you’re not on fire, are you really clean? HA!
First thoughts: the packaging is cohesive and really elegant. The gravity feed bottle design means I’m not wasting a drop, and I love that. The scent is really refreshing. It’s a super citrus smell, so if you’re showering in the morning to wake yourself up, this is your jam. I’m not sure if I would love it in the evening for a wind-down shower, which is sometimes a personal favorite.
Vegamour tells us that this shampoo uses a proprietary vegan keratin called “Karmatin” to provide shine and strengthen hair. If you let it sit for a moment, as the directions ask, you’ll get conditions that promote thicker, fuller, and longer-looking hair. The plant oils claim to moisturize without leaving behind pore-blocking residue, which I felt like I could verify after a few washes.
Curly Girl Method Approved
While I don’t have curly hair, I’ve been reading a lot about the Curly Girl Method, because my daughter DOES have some sort of curly hair that I’ve been accidentally suppressing for years. I checked a few websites, and while not all Vegamour products are covered, the GRO Shampoo and Gro Conditioner are CGM approved!
The GRO Conditioner
Now for the honest part of the honest Vegamour review. The Vegamour GRO Conditioner, no matter how I tried to use it (fast rinse, set and rinse, use less, use more) always felt mega-heavy on my hair. While it’s formulated the same as its partner shampoo, the “soft and silky” claims just felt thick and weighted on my fine hair. This is one of the reasons I went searching for the CGM approval – was it as heavy as I imagined and pulled on curls? Nope, it might just be me. The photo above is me after about the third wash, with a 1.5″ curling iron treatment.
I did not pair these two products with the hair serums or foams, which they recommend for optimal results. I also should mention that arriving on wash day was more than welcome because I was ready to ditch the heavy conditioner feel with a fresh wash.
My Honest Favorite: The Vegamour GRO Biotin Gummies
I saved the best for last because this was my favorite of all the products I tried. It’s got a lot going for it, and it fits seamlessly into my already-existing routine. The GRO Biotin Gummies by Vegamour, “features a proprietary combination of vitamins and minerals that help beautify strands, nourish the scalp and support healthy looking hair,” according to the website. I will agree with the further copy, as these vitamins are decidedly delicious, and have a stronger bite (instead of the gushy kid-style vitamins) and a ripe strawberry taste without fake flavors. Vegamour says these gummies are vegan friendly, contain no gelatin or gluten, and contain vitamins A, C, E, B-5, B-6, B-12, biotin folic acid, keratin, and collagen. Dang, that’s pretty close to a magic health pill where hair is concerned.
Another perk is the sugar-coating, as it keeps the gummies from sticking together, drying out, and heck, it just tastes like a little self-care treat. I took a vitamin-a-day for a month, and am already ready for my next jar!
I did notice that after a month of using this GRO system, the new growth I was finally starting to propagate (thank you pandemic stress) was noticeable and LONG. What my stylist told me she could see (and I could not) actually sprouted fairly fast and started filling back in – you can see all the new growth around my temples!
Would I Try Vegamour Again?
Short answer, yes. Especially the gummies. I take some medications in the morning along with a general (boring) vitamin, so this was very easy to fold into my regular routine. While nothing in the world is a “magic pill,” vitamins come awful close as they fill in all the nutritional gaps we may curse ourselves with. As a dietary supplement, the Vegamour GRO Biotin Gummies are a great addition to my regular beauty routine, and at around $1.00 for fuller hair? Sign me up.
And I think you might want to try it, too. If you are looking to renew your locks from stress and patchiness, or just get your healthy hair back, I would consider the Vegamour products, especially the gummies. Tell them I sent you! 🙂
I’m not sure if I would stick with the GRO Shampoo and Conditioner, only because I have very fine hair and regular conditioners just feel dang heavy in my hair. All in all, if you are looking for a little growth boost, try Vegamour’s GRO line!

After reading g your review, I’m definitely interested in this product line. My hair is messy curly. So weight might be what I need. As an Olde adult and losing hair this gummie idea sounds great.
