Disclaimer: Our family was provided with tickets to the exhibit in order to experience Moneyville for ourselves and learn about global economics as part of this sponsored post. All thought and opinions are my own.
If you live in the Metro Atlanta area, you’re in for a fall treat! The ImagineIt! Children’s Museum of Atlanta is hosting the Moneyville exhibit, which showcases a miniature city where children can learn through play about the history of money, global economics, and even tweak their math skills. The exhibit is open now until January 12, 2014. (The museum is closed on Wednesdays)
Although this exhibit is a bit over the head of our 2 year old, Red still was able to learn to balance a scale (budgeting), use the viewfinder (global imports and exports), and touch on the history of money (ancient cultures used food or rocks as money!) by identifying chocolate smells and touching the examples! If you’re ready to teach your child about financial literacy, the Moneyville exhibit will really help jumpstart your conversation! Children as young as preschool and kindergarten age will be able to count coins and take away a little more from the fine tuned exhibits, which share an anti-counterfeit lab as well as a kid bank where you can take your photo and design your own money!
Red’s favorite stop was the “storefront” where you could practice selling food with play money, calculate costs and learn to count change. The play food was very much a hit, and held his interest the longest.
We also had plenty of fun in the museum’s static exhibits, like Fundamentally Food (Red’s BIG favorite), the wooden train station and the dress up area. If you haven’t tried fishing for magnetic fish in Leap Into Learning with your little ones, watch the video below to see Red show you how it’s done!
Aww love it I think I am going to take the kids on Friday as a treat. Loving the pictures
