I like to think we don’t go on vacation that often. But when I pause to think about it, we’ve been some killer places this year alone. We took Red on his first visit to the beach at Beaches Turks and Caicos, on his first trip to Walt Disney World, and now our little family is on the Florida coastline for Scarlett’s first beach trip.
We ventured out today for a few hours pre-lunch, and it was gloriously warm with a cool breeze; perfectly agreeable for a nap with crashing waves-white-noise and chirping seagulls. Take a look at my mini beach bum; she was so pleasant!
Red had a blast constructing sand castles and leaping over the waves with his two cousins. Near the end of our initial playtime, he drug a brightly striped sand chair closer to the foamy crash line and pretended he was a lifeguard, commanding invisible swimmers to leave the water and come help build his castle moat. Personally, I thought it was hilarious and I’m glad Chase was there to snap this picture and even get his commands on tape! (And why do we still say “tape…” when we DVR, film, digitally-whatever?)
Either way, Scarlett napped when she wasn’t focusing on the diving pelicans or her dripping brother running to give us “ocean kisses.” We still have some time left here to enjoy sandy toes and lazy afternoons in the pool (something about the summer that I relish) before taking the long car ride back home. It will be a long second before we get to enjoy our little family on the shore again, so if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get back to snuggling this little lady in the ocean breeze!

Looks like a great time! And, yes, I say tape, too! Old dog!
Looks like the beach was good to Scarlett and Red!
