Chase has been going to UGA games since he was in college. I’ve been attending select games since I was in grad school, and even Red had his first few games with Daddy last year. While Scarlett was really too little to attend the dawgs’ game in Sanford stadium last year, this weekend was her first foray into football with the family.
Right after we returned from St. Augustine beach (there’s so much to share with y’all, I’m still catching up!) we jetting east to Athens for a big Saturday together. Red found a red stormtrooper snapping free photos with fans (Red was in awe!) and the boys treated themselves to some new ballcaps.
So what did Scarlett do? She found herself a pom-pom on the bleachers and waved it around for the first quarter happily. It was a breezy day, and she was very happy to putt around our small family space and wave to all her new stadium friends. I simply adored her UGA cheerleader outfit, complete with beribboned hair bow from Grandmartha. It swamped her brow last fall, but now it’s PERFECT to tame those top-curls. Thank you Grandmartha!
It was the second quarter before Scarlett gave into her nap. Daddy snuggled her until halftime, when I let her nap away the rest of the game away from the crowd. Overall, it was a shocking loss for the Dawgs against Tennessee, but I made some pretty awesome memories. My two kids geared up for celebration, fun and lots of good local eats. The four of us started some new traditions in Athens, and they are ones I hope to keep!
Aw, that tuckered out girl! That UGA storm trooper is awesome!
