As we all know, little babies and toddlers will watch you do something, and then THEY will do it – nearly right away. Babies babble and copy sounds from family members and caregivers to eventually understand the link between vocal sounds and facial shapes. This leads to language. An article from The Parent Review Library puts this into words, mentioning, “As babies watch people, copy, and learn, they are moving toward more complex forms of human connection, including the development of helping behaviors and basic empathy.”
What I’m basically saying is that Hubs and I have to be careful what we say and do now. Red will imitate a handful of sounds, and jump when we ask him to.
Red and I were hanging out, watching Saturday morning cartoons Sesame Street together. Yes, folks, Saturday morning cartoons are no more. Just because they have five or six channels of their own, they are no longer run on basic/local TV on weekend mornings. This childhood-memory crushing moment led to some creative thinking that morning. (Dooley helped. By being a paperweight).
Blankets are coveted around the Redhead House, and so, why not turn one into a lovely veil? 🙂

That, in turn, led to us doing some silly noises and laughing. I noticed that Red was doing a certain noise with me, so we started to copy cat one another. I even got my Mama booty in gear and managed to get a short clip of us on video! I’ll be sure to use this at his graduation and wedding to embarrass him. Unless he threatens to put me in the home early. Then I’ll have to think of something else!
