You may have seen on my social channels that I’ve been hard at work with Chase and Mom (who came to visit from MO and staged the house as Chase’s birthday present) updating, renovating, decorating and purging the house for sale. We have a lot of crap that we’ve accumulated over the last 6 years. A storage unit, several donation runs and many gallons of paint later, we’re finally done and the house is on the market for sale.
Projects this last month have included getting new carpet on the stairs to the man cave (And man… had I known what GREAT shape the woodwork was like underneath, I would have just painted those suckers… but you never know until you peel it all up. I’ve seen some horrid stairs underneath carpet), painting the upstairs and master bedroom a more neutral gray, and a cheap $300 makeover for the garage – fresh white paint and a floor epoxy, which looks AH-mazing.
Here’s a peek at the garage before and after: a dirty, ugly, never painted 17 year old mess….
And afterwards, the cleanest, showroom-quality flooring and fresh-everywhere paint job looks sooooo good. I think we may just keep our cars out of the garage until we sell, just to keep it perfectly pristine.
I can’t wait to show you more finished photos of the rooms, and what our “final product” looks like. Even though the whole process was done in order to “finish” the house and make it look perfect, it’s what I’ve always wanted the house to look like… and even living here for 6 years hasn’t seen all the projects finished until the last minute. Maybe the next time, I won’t wait so long to finish up things around the house. It’s always better if you get to enjoy it before someone else does! (But I’m sure the new homeowners, whoever they will be, will enjoy all the fresh paint and carpeting!)
Have you ever sold a house before? What are your best staging tips?
Did you do the garage floors yourself? If so, what did you use? It looks great!
Since we were time crunched, we bought everything and had our handyman apply it. It only took half a day, the hardest part was waiting for it all to cure!
