When the Schedule is More Than You Can Take…

I’m really lamenting the end of summer. We slept late, stayed up to whenever, ran to the pool, had adventures and ate tons of ice cream.  Now that the fall is full on and running into early winter, our schedules are more crammed than ever.  Top that with the impending holidays and it’s enough to drive me batty.  I’m trying not to overbook (or double book!!) us and apparently “no” isn’t in my vocab!
This past week, I had an awesome tech week with my high schoolers performing Shakespeare’s Much Ado and I think they enjoyed it, too. While the should could have been cut by an HOUR and been a better length, it’s already gone.  I struck the Lyric’s Chicago, hosted a LeapFrog party (more on that later) and attended a meetup for the Junior members of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  *pant pant pant*.  And now it’s Monday again.
Oh, wait.. I forgot Saturday! Groceries, errands, a turtles birthday party for Peanut and the boys went to see Big Hero 6 together – they love those movie man-dates! (I got to crash out for an hour and a half to survive tech and strike! And it was sooooo nice.)
But the damage is done to the schedule. I don’t think it’s going to lighten up anytime soon, but wouldn’t you rather be out and about seeing people, participating and living life? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a pajama and pizza day, but I’m trying to see things with the silver lining.  “Just say yes” and enjoy the ride.  You might just get a few laughs and a new experience out of it!

I am feeling ya, sister! Though it sounds fun, it also sounds insane. What do you do at the high school?

I do feel like the holidays bring about the multitasks in us all! There is so much to do, but the crazy things is, during the holidays.. I absolutely ENJOY it! The hustle and bustle of these last few months of the year just make me smile!

Agreed! Sometimes I think if my hands aren’t totally full, I’m not doing enough! Talk about Type A personalities!

Yes to the yeses…but I also feel the overload, big time! I know it’s bad when I have to check my calendar three times to know what’s going on!
