Red has (to my delight) started to pretend. It’s very simple at this point – a car drives and makes sounds, he stirs a bowl of nothing, and every one goes Night Night at some point… during the day.
Red will grab his one or two… or three blankies and lay them over his subject (here, the Doo). Dooley gets a very light pat several times, and a declaration of, “Night Night Doo”, followed by a head snuggle. It’s the latter that really melts me.
Sometimes Hubs get drug into the bedroom, put INTO BED and the door has to be shut. Night night kisses and snuggling ensue. But, like any 2 year old pretend session, it’s short lived and he moves on to the next play time activity! How did your kids start pretending?

Oh, Lindsey! He is just too cute! Such a sweet bond is forming between Red and Doo. I think Danger started pretending with her dolls. They were her babies, and she had to breastfeed them, wrap them up in blankets, and rock them to sleep. It’s nice to think that the amount of nurture and care that our children put into their playthings reflects on the love that they receive from us 🙂

Oh that is just too stinking cute! I remember when the older two used to play the “naptime” game and I thought it was AWESOME! I wish they’d do it now.

I love this game! It is the best way to get some quiet resting time for ME. Amelia used to put me down to nap a lot. I miss that.

ccoking is what I pretended as a child, too!

YES! My mom did that to try and get my brother to nap! To this day, he needs quiet to sleep!
redheadbabymama says
I can’t wait until he gets into the pretend cooking stage – that will be fun, too!
redheadbabymama says
haha – they won’t know how golden nap time is until they are older and can’t have it anymore…

Thank you! 🙂 Yes, Doo is very sweet to Red – he tolerates a LOT from him. I think what Danger did is very sweet! 🙂 Now if we can only get Red to translate that “care” into not throwing his trucks!
