Red’s First Visit to the Georgia Aquarium

You may have seen last week’s post on the Georgia Aquarium, and this weekend’s visit was nothing short of spectacular.  Red was floored, in awe and wide-eyed as soon as we walked into the door, and I was so happy that Hubs and I both there to see his excitement.  As soon as we walked into the Ocean Voyager, with it’s moving sidewalk and over head tank with whale sharks, Red was in his happy place.

He had picked out his brand new octopus and pirate ship shirt to wear, and sure enough, he was able to see a live octopus for the first time.  As strange as the octopus was, Red was not afraid, but mesmerized by his tentacles and suckers.

We waited patiently for our turn to pop up in the Penguin habitat!

As soon as we hit the Tropical Diver Exhibit, with it’s reef coral-type shoreline, Red screamed, jumping up and down for the colorful fish. I’m fairly sure he could have sat in that room all day long. I did (eventually) get a cute shot of his outfit – care of OshKosh BGosh, his bright plaids and octopus shirt were a hit! (His shorts even have little sharks embroidered on them!)

We finished off the long morning with lunch in the cafe, and a sweet selfie before nap time took over.

And, when I say nap time took over, it TOOK. OVER. Dead asleep in the car before we hit the street, new shark chomper in hand.  We had the BEST time, and are actually looking at getting a membership for the family! Have you visited the Aquarium in your town?

Looks like so much fun! The aquariums I’ve been to haven’t had a place to pop up in any habitats, that sounds so neat.

There is something so magical about sea life to the littles! We have the big New England Aquarium in Boston and there is a great aquarium in Mystic, CT that we like, but they are both long day trips.
