Ever After the Musical at the Alliance

When I first moved in with Chase (many moons ago), we combined our shiny DVD collection (with a few VHS mixed in) and pored over what each other had. Jurassic Park, Bad Santa and The Godfather series peeked from his stack, while Indiana Jones, (in a box set, of course,) the entire Disney vault and Ever After merged from mine. Chase had never seen some of my comedic romantic comedies that were already worn out from repeated viewings. He quickly learned how much I loved Ever After, with Angelica Huston’s evil stepmother commanding the screen.

Ever AFter the musical at Alliance Theatre Atlanta

As the years have passed, it’s still one of my favorite films, now appearing digitally in our library. I heard that the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta is following in their tradition of Broadway-bound shows with a modern, musical version of the Cinderella story based on my favorite 1998 movie. The Alliance production has the pleasure to welcome the Broadway star of The Phantom of the Opera and The Little Mermaid, Sierra Boggess, in the lead role! I’m pleased to be among the first Atlanta audience members BEFORE this show goes to New York City. Below you can hear Sierra singing one of the musical numbers from the show. It’s not an immediate earworm, but I’m very eager to see the newest retelling of my this Cinderella tale. Catch it January 15th-February 17, 2019.

Alliance Rehearsals & Sneak Peek

Ever After the Musical is drawing closer, and I have a sneak peek for you behind the scenes. A white model of the set has been released, so take a look! The trees and architectural details are very soft, romantic, and evoke the mood of the film. I can tell it will be BEAUTIFUL!

And low… we have a sighting of the Mona Lisa! This was one of my favorite moments of the film, as historical moments give us some reference in the story. I’m glad to see such details remain in the musical version.
