We were given complimentary tickets to experice the Museum of Illusions! All opinions are my own.
Ready to accidentally learn something while having fun? Head to the Museum of Illusions inside Atlantic Station, which is full of STEM.org certified fun for the whole family. My best tip for visiting this unusual museum is to bring a friend! I was lucky to have Red and Scarlet in tow, because so many of the exhibits come alive when you have someone else to share the illusion with. You’ll laugh, pose, and wonder how your eyes can be so easily fooled!
There was SO MUCH to see I couldn’t even capture it all, despite the very cool “photopass” of all the digital images for $6. Don’t have a third person to take all your cool photos? Don’t worry. You are allowed to take your own photos in the museum, but you are also given a little QR code to scan at a few photo machines that will capture your crazy visual! All your images, no matter how many you take, for $6!
You’ll step into rooms that tilt, spin, change colors, and flip your sense of direction. There’s an infinity mirror that makes it look like you can see FOREVER and there’s another silly Ames Room that even made Scarlett look taller than Red! Every illusion comes with a little STEM lesson about how your eyes and brain process light, depth, and perspective — you’ll walk out a little smarter than when you went in! Take a look at the fun we got into… I highly recommend you spend the hour it takes to go through all the exhibits. Play, learn, tease your brain… and oh man…. your brain will SPIN!
