Allergies or A Cold? Use the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit

I am participating in an Ambassador program on behalf of Influence Central and hosted by Claritin®. I have received compensation to thank me for my participation. All opinions expressed are my own.

The first time Red came home from Pre-School with sniffles, I picked up the phone and called the nurse line with our pediatrician’s office.  The nurse asked for his symptoms.  Glancing down at my then-three-year-old, I saw a fast dripping runny nose and was hearing a bunch of sniffles. No fever was present, though I know plenty of colds that come without fevers.  The nurse said to watch him and see what developed, because it might just be allergies!  Nothing needed medical attention at the time.  As a child, I never had allergies, though I knew plenty of friends that did.  It turns out; my little guy DOES have fall allergies! I had to learn the difference between symptoms and what triggers affected him during the pollen counts.

There are so many ways to make a kid feel relief from symptoms of cold or allergies, but I wasn’t always aware of them.  Now we can turn to the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit, brought to us by the makers of Children’s Claritin®.  The website gives me various tools to help understand Red’s fall allergies and determine what’s going on with him.

There are 3 main sections in the Toolkit to help progress through your understanding of your child’s symptoms that may be due to allergies.

  • Learn: Provides information to help you understand child’s allergy symptoms.  There’s also a neat Allergy Quiz on the sidebar you can take to test your knowledge… what’s your score?
  • Ask: Provides great pediatrician prep points to help guide your conversation with your child’s doctor concerning your kid’s allergies.  This is also when I printed out our symptom tracker so we can share our issues!
  • Manage: Provides tips to manage your child’s allergies.  Red’s allergies are seasonal,  so we want to know how to manage them each year.

The Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit, helps me to be reminded of specific allergy symptoms and the best part is the symptom tracker. I can progress through the week writing down how Red is feeling as well as tracking the pollen count in my hometown.  That means I can keep ahead of the curve and know what to expect outside as well as my options for allergy relief.  When I double-checked to see the correlation; wow! We have some outside allergies to manage!

A great option for Red’s allergies since he was 2 has been Children’s Claritin.  It is the #1 Pediatrician Recommended Non-Drowsy Oral Allergy Brand for kids ages 2 and up, and our pediatrician told me it was a good option for us.  Children’s Claritin is available in both Chewable or Syrup forms, making it easy to administer to finicky little patients. It also offers 24 hours of allergy relief from runny noses, sneezes, itchy, watery eyes and itchy noses or throats.  That means a happier kid-patient, too!
