6 Things to Wear to a Tacky Christmas Party

Tis the Season!  Chase and I love to go to Christmas parties, and we can’t help but wear our best tacky Christmas attire.  Over the last seven year, we’ve worn the gamut of Christmas clothing, including crazy accessories and vintage pieces.  This year, we were invited to one of the largest annual gatherings we’ve ever been to, with food that would knock you over.  Passed appetizers, custom bevvies and even an S’mores station!  Chase and I wore some fun, comfortable pieces, but if you’re searching for tackyChristmass attire ideas, take a peek at my favorites below!

What to Wear to a Tacky Christmas Party

1.  Ugly Christmas Sweaters

A total classic.  Raid thrift stores, hit up amazon, or dig through your mom’s closet to find your favorite color, style or jingling knit.  There are some real gems out there… I challenge you to find a new one!

2.  Accessorize with Jingle Bell Antlers or Light Up Hats!

Grab any accessories you have, and combine them! Light up necklaces from the dollar store, your children’s funky santa hats, or these terrible, wonderful christmas tree glasses.  Combine several pieces in a fun photo booth or go for as many as you can!

3.  All Out-Decor

Some of my favorite tacky christmas outfits have been the strangest.  Guests have shown up tangled in christmas lights, covered in gift bows or outrageous turtlenecks they found at Walmart.  Each year I love to see the new combinations.  If you only have one item that suits, show it off!

4.  Christmas Jammies!

One year, I asked my guests to show up wearing Christmas PJs.  I saw plaids, fair aisles, robes, onesies and even plain reds and greens topped with antlers and christmas lights.  By far, the most comfortable of these has been my  2015 fair aisle reindeer Christmas onesie.  Pockets, a hood and a full zip!  I may not have slipper to the party, but I sure was feelin’ good!tacky christmas sweater printed oneise

5.  Follow a Tacky Christmas Theme with Friends

Find any holiday theme and tell all your friends to follow suit.  Whether it’s Santa, Frosty or even nutcrackers, friends are bound to surprise you with their creativity, and it’s always fun to see a running theme threaded throughout the party!

6.  Class Up The Joint

Don’t have tacky attire? Don’t worry!! Effortlessly class up the joint with a LBD (Little Black Dress) and your brand new Louboutin heels! 🙂 I can’t believe the only photo I got of my lovely host was blinking… but nevertheless, she’s such a doll, and hosts quite the Christmas soiree!

When I go to a tacky Christmas party, I like to dress to the hilt. I go with the ugly sweater and all the accessories I can find!

I love tacky Christmas sweaters and tacky Christmas sweater parties. My daughter and son in law got matching tacky sweaters last year.

I keep waiting for the chance to go to a party where I can do some of this. I must have boring friends …. we get together but nothing crazy yet. Maybe I need to invite them and give them all these great options.

I used to have an ugly sweater. Donated it so someone else could enjoy it too. 🙂

My best friend bought me plaid Christmas leggings. After seeing how much that plaid stretches, I decided we are no longer friends!!!!

We had Ugly Christmas sweater day at work yesterday! Since I went to the University of Tennessee, my dad gave me a UT Ugly Christmas sweater and it was REALLY ugly! 🙂 I think I need to host an ugly Christmas sweater party for my friends!
