Babyproofing. Not Done.

Since Red has started crawling, that means there’s a WHOLE LOT more than he can get to, and get into.  Cords, plugs, bags, shelves, remotes; you name it.
Hubs and I really haven’t babyproofed at all. We “had more time”, and we’d “get around to it”.  Well, chief, the time is now. Red, as you may have seen from this video, is scrambling more than true crawling, but he’s already pretty fast. And unless Hubs wants all his media speakers ripped from the shelves at lightening speed, he’d better bundle them up.  (That goes for me and my computer cords, too!)
Our house has a lot of crap.  Our cords may be the biggest offenders. Now that i really look at it – ugly.
Blerg.
We have small weights, tinkly little glass vases, topply shelves, “decorations”, etc. Dog friendly, yes.  Not mobile baby friendly.
Ummmm I think these have lain dormant for a few weeks.
It is now my mission to clear out this stuff.  Luckily, I’m a purger. Hubs will tell you that as I swipe boxes of stuff from his youth and willingly chuck it into the giveaway pile.  I don’t throw everything  out, but after a short holding period of non-useful-ness, it’s outta here.  Goodwill, Recycling, Trash – where ever we deem appropriate.
Besides clearing the clutter, I’ll have to start plugging up the outlets, and covering the fireplace with either a quilt or something a little nicer-looking, albiet cheaper.  I have a smattering of plugs for the wall. I might have to invest in a few more!
Good God, we have a lot of cords.

I also have to take care of our “computer center”.  People who visit the house deem our coffee table as the dueling computers.  But with technological communication so intertwined in our lives, how can we do without it? Well, we’ll have to, if we want Red to remain neck-meets-cord free.

How old were your munchkins when you added door handle covers? Other things that I might not think about? I mean, there are so many “solutions” to baby proofing. I don’t have any intention of getting washer locks or potty locks – door handle covers should suffice to shut those areas off.  But there might be other spaces to help.  What do you all think? How can I keep these little hands where they belong?!
