I had the great pleasure to see a screening of Black Panther last night in Atlanta, and I thought it was so good! ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS HERE! There were lots of gals getting dressed up for the event, sharing African pride, Marvel Geekery and so on through wardrobe, so I thought I’d try my hand at a Black Panther Disneybound! I grabbed a black Stella & Dot top I had with some skinny jeans, tooth-collar like jewelry and topped it off with my daughter’s grosgrain cat ear headband. It was both comfortable and FREE!
Marvels Black Panther opens everywhere on February 16th, 2018, but you can watch the trailer now to start your hype… don’t forget your Black Panther Disneybound for an added dose of fun whether you’re headed to the movies, a Marvel Day at Sea, or even the Disney Parks!
The Princess Shuri of Wakanda was one of my favorite characters. She’s sassy, witty, and playfully irreverent with her brother, the King. Not to mention she’s smart as a whip and has advanced Wakanda’s technology and use of Vibranium! You can watch her here as she assists Black Panther in a car chase with some new tech: https://youtu.be/sgX_StgXGF0 That’s a role model you can place for any female in your family. Want a bold personality to look up to? Consider General Okoye, King T’Challa’s personal bodyguard and leader of the Dora Milaje female warriors. She takes her job seriously with a heavy dose of national pride. I loved her bada$$ style and whenever the General was on screen, my eyes were on her! You can see her below in the gold choker necklace:
You may not be able to see them, but I’m wearing Ear Jackets just like the ones listed below in the Polyvore image. My necklace is a portion of a no-longer sold Stella & Dot collection, but I kept the pieces because they were so unique. The tooth-like aspect of the gold was a perfect nod to T’Challa’s necklace! You can buy or find all of these items below, (my Stella & Dot stylist links are used below!) or pull together something inspirational from your own closet. Most of these items you may already have, but be sure to grab a necklace with some real tooth power… just make sure to leave your Vibranium at home!

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to take his rightful place as King. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Long known for its revolutionary creative vision, Marvel Comics has introduced its audiences to a diverse roster of Super-Heroes since 1939, most notably with the groundbreaking Black Panther character that made its first appearance in “Fantastic Four Vol. 1” Issue 52, published in 1966. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Black Panther was soon firmly established as a fan favorite, crossing racial and cultural lines. The imagery of a regal African King and his Super Hero alter ego continued to resonate with fans over the years, resulting in multiple new “Black Panther” publications, most recently from the likes of filmmaker Reginald Hudlin and author/journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates. In 2016, the Marvel Cinematic Universe welcomed T’Challa/Black Panther and introduced him to its massive fan base in “Captain America: Civil War,” the record-breaking film that pitched the Avengers against one another.
