Craft Poppy’s Crown from Trolls World Tour

It’s no secret that the Pop Village trolls love to craft and scrapbook! We pulled out some construction paper we had on hand (hey, you’ve got to keep it cheap with kid crafts!) and spent some time together making Poppy’s Crown from Trolls World Tour. Making Poppy’s Crown from Trolls World Tour

We’re all about keeping it cheap at this time of year. Had we not had the colors we needed, Scarlett said she would be ok using some creativity and imagination as we made different colored flowers. But we struck gold in the craft drawer with green, yellow, and a few blues. Grab your glue stick!

We cut a green piece of constriction paper in half, longways. This became our crown base. Stapes held the pieces together while we drew on the back to create Queen Poppy’s tiara silhouette. Notice that it’s not totally symmetrical!

Next up, we made all sorts of flowers, by drawing and cutting (Scarlett tried her hand at Kindergarten scissors), which resulted in some very handmade silhouettes and crafty looking pieces. We’re in it this time for the fun, not the Pinterest result! After we cut, we started to gluing. 

I showed Scarlett how to lay everything out as we glued, in order to see what the final result would look like. She was really enjoying putting it together!

The back of our crown was no more professional than your local preschool parade. After a quick measurement, I threw a couple of staples on the backside to keep it together. Pro tip: put the “flat” side of the staple towards the head in order to keep them from pulling on hair or poking the forehead.

Our crown has a large scale. This is a partial side view to check out the flowers, sun and glue job by Scarlett. She had a little placement help, but this crown features a lot of her handiwork. I think it’s fit for a brave pop music Queen!

And presenting Scarlett, our pop Queen (and yes, she’s already asking me to make a Queen Barb rock and roll costume!) wearing her paper Poppy’s crown. Make one up on these scorching hot summer days for a fun (and hopefully free) activity.
