Having a preschooler is a LOT of fun. Have a preschooler that’s into Disney just as much as I am is even better. When we were given the opportunity to host a #DisneyKids Disney Preschool Playdate, I JUMPED at the chance (our first #Disneyside party two years ago was a huge hit!). We invited our neighborhood friends over for an afternoon of Disney games, food and fun. I used a simple Evite invitation to send to our preschool friends and their siblings, which was free and even Disney themed (the themes and designs change throughout the year!).
We asked our neighbors to wear their favorite Disney-themed shirts, shoes, or Disneybound attire, to wear their Mickey ears and if they had any Disney pins to trade, to bring them! I wanted to share our favorite parts of a Walt Disney World vacation with them, so we made sure to bring the parks to our house! The resort sent us a great big box, full of party supplies and gear, complete with a Princess Sophia suitcase from American Tourister, as our gift for hosting (You can watch our YouTube unboxing of the Disney Preschool Playdate box here!).
Donned in our best #Disneyside apparel, we set up the party using our hostess kit and an extra dose of Imagineering. Guests were invited to wear hats, try some Lion Guard tattoos, and snack on foods themed with their favorite Disney Junior characters.
Our foods represented the Lion Guard, Sophia, Jake, Miles, Mickey and even my favorite Dole Whips from the Magic Kingdom. (They were so popular, I forgot to take a photo of them!!)
Miles from Tomorrowland actually enjoys his cosmic cocoa in an episode that Red and I watched together, so I used the Nesquick Walt Disney World sent us to create Miles’ favorite drink. This cool concoction was something the preschoolers can enjoy without burning themselves, and star sprinkles add a bit of space magic to the entire thing! Find the recipe here!
For entertainment, we had our guests play Walt Disney World Bingo, for which the winners recieved Tsum Tsums I purchased at Target, and everyone (including the parents!) played “Who Am I?” with characters taped to their backs. Each person had to ask their friends Yes or No questions to guess which Disney character they were. Some were easy, like Elsa (you can see her card in the top left of this photo) and some were more obscure!
Pin trading had to be my favorite game of the afternoon. It’s one of my favorite things to do at the parks, and I trade mostly with cast members (I never want to hurt a guest’s feelings if we don’t make a trade!) I purchased a grab bag of 10 pins online and handed them out to the preschoolers at our playdate. Each kid was given the option to keep or trade their pin with a friend – some of them traded a few times, and I traded, too. Selfie for Mommy and Me Monday!
The pink lanyard below is mine, and the pins in the small baggies were for our guests! See anything you would want to trade for?!
The kids were so proud of their final choices, and I think they all loved this activity straight from the parks.
Red’s gift from the Princess Half Marathon was a lanyard of his own as well as a few pins to start his own collection. He proudly showed it off and had his eye on a few pins to trade. The first time he traded we me, we went back and forth with the same few pins. He couldn’t decide what he wanted!
There are SO many things for you and your preschoolers to do at Walt Disney World. From the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to over 80 attractions perfect for little ones, there’s a lot to enjoy on a bite-sized vacation. They will learn so much on their first trip to Walt Disney World, and the magic is so real!

That’s such a cute idea! That popcorn is the best. No one can turn down popcorn with chocolate mixed in.

I think a Disney play date is the best idea ever. Disney is like the answer to everything when kids are that age.

The pin trading was a great idea! When my husband and I took our kids to Disney years ago, they traded pins and the lanyards are still prized possessions. Great party and fun ideas!

Collecting and trading pins is a lot of fun. I learned early in life to get 2 of each so I would always have my favorites. The cosmic cocoa looks so delicious – just the thing for the after-trade euphoria!
