Next in the series of monthly favorites is Eleven and Twelve months – your little one has finally approached the one year mark, and while you are planning your Pinterest perfect party, they are growing and learning by leaps and bounds. And just what do you get a one year old for their birthday?! There is a decided lack of toys appropriate for this age – everything is geared to either a younger or older crowd, so consider something from this list!
1. Melissa & Doug Kickball – As your baby learns to walk and continues crawling, give them a goal! Reach, push, roll and catch this soft bouncy ball. Lasting many years past their first birthday, this re-inflatable ball will end up being a first kickball, and foursquare ball!
2. Radio Flyer Comfort Wagon – A FABULOUS investment! There are a few variations of this wagon, with or without an attachable rear cooler, canopy, seat covers, etc. But all of them have nice 3 point seatbelts, and plenty of legroom and a fold down seat that converts easily into a tray table for crayons on the go. Cupholders for mom/dad and baby in the floorboard. All seats and handles fold FLAT for great garage storage – we even put it in our trunk and take it to the pool!
3. Munchkin Snack Catchers – Dishwasher safe snack traps are a mom’s best friend for finger-food eaters. The flexible lids allow little fingers to fish out snacks without dumping them on the floor, and will last the lifetime of your child’s use. I like that they come in a 2 pack and are extremely travel friendly. Other snack traps don’t compare in terms of use, function and cleanability.
4. Little Green Pouch – One of the only ways to eat applesauce, purees, yogurts and other smoothie blends. Little hands can experiment with holding food and self feeding, while saving you TONS of money on expensive jar foods. Refill with sauces and smoothies for preschoolers, too.
5. Tommee Tippee Sippee Cups – Hands down, the Tommee Tippee family of cups and bottles has a fan in me. Super easy to clean, minimal parts and NO, NO, NO spillage. Ever. Start out with a double handled model, moving up to a toddler cup by age 2.
