Over the weekend, we celebrated Hubs’ birthday. He, as many men do, loves bacon. My brother, Tyler, had introduced him to EPIC MEAL TIME on Youtube, and they were so amazed with the many applications of a bacon weave, Hubs had to make one for himself…
~Preheat your oven to 400, and line a baking sheet with tinfoil. (You can also lay a cooking rack on this tin foil liner to reduce the fat further from your creation.
~Lay several strips of bacon horizontally on the sheet, edges touching. Don’t forget to use the same kind of bacon throughout (don’t switch from regular to thick cut). About 6 strips each way will create a weave the size of a dinner plate.
~Weave your vertical bacon strips in between the horizontal strips by lifting and inserting the bacon. Replace the lifted strips so that everything lays flat.
~Bake for approx. 13 minutes, and use tongs to carefully flip the entire creation. You want to cook the weave mostly on one side so the strips shrink together and make the weave cohesive. Continue baking until the bacon weave is done to your tastes. (We did 13 minutes on one side, and about 10 on the other side).
~Allow the weave to drip dry for a few minutes on a paper towel stack.
~Serve warm
But what else can you do with a bacon weave?! Many things!
– Plate for waffles or eggs
-Blanket for a pork tenderloin
-Pancake stuffing
-Eat it plain
-Man-style breakfast garnish
