It’s been awesome to watch Scarlett grow up over the past year. Recently, I’ve noticed an “awakening” in her personality. She takes notice of much more, even the tiny details I might not be paying attention to, like the dog across the room, or the furry puppet on the top of the store shelf. She’s getting so smart, so aware and even more bubbly. I’m seeing her wants and requests come to the surface, and that includes when she’s sitting in the high chair!
As we come to a close on “stage 3” of our feeding journey, I’m noticing some differences in Scarlett’s behavior. For the first time, she’s being dismissive of foods she has either tried before or that she has not yet experienced. Others are being scarfed up as soon as they hit the tray. Scarlett’s personality is shining through and taking root.
I made a short video to share with you what my biggest successes and concerns have been over the past three months, and I think my fellow parents out there will echo them. I’m also speaking on the similarities and differences between my first child and my second, as well as the influences they have on each other, which I totally didn’t expect at Scarlett’s young age.
If you watched the video and want to try some of the recipes I mentioned, find my Beech-Nut copycat Apple, Strawberry and Beets puree here as well as my Butternut Squash, Black Bean and Cumin recipe for Taco night! What have been your moments of happiness and success with your babies?
I am very pleased to mention that I am working with Beech-Nut for 2016 as a sponsored ambassador, sharing Scarlett’s journey to solid foods and shedding some light on the Baby’s First Foods process. Come and share a bite to eat!

It’s amazing how quick kids develop their taste preferences….but they do change over time. I remember when my son was a baby he HATED ice cream – now he loves it!
