Hubs and I have had a beach trip with 3 other couples (our very best friends) planned since early Spring. It’s a trip that we’ve taken for several years in a row (last year was put on hold because of 2 weddings and 2 babies between all of us) and I’m really excited about it. A beautiful house right on the beach, a rib-cooking competition and lounging by the pool should let me relax, right?!
BUT it means that Mom is coming to take care of Red for the long weekend. There’s no one more capable of taking care of the little man, but that doesn’t stop my overwhelming anxiety about leaving him. Sure, Hubs and I have gone on plenty of date nights, movies, lunches out, etc., but I’ve never spent the night away from Red. And that’s what freaks me out.
Yes: I know everything will be fine, yes: I’ll have to knock my stress down with a few daquiris, yes: I’ll cry as soon as we pull out of the driveway, but it makes me feel a little better to be able to talk about it. At least I can look forward to getting picture messages from Mom with Red in them. 🙂
When was the first time you left your baby for the first trip overnight?
What did you do to help calm yourself? Send me some words of wisdom in the comments!!
Mama,
Sorry,no words of wisdom because I have yet to spend a night away from my little man either(13 1/2 months). I have also never missed a night of putting him to bed (barely made it a couple of times), but I understand your anxiety. Let me know how it goes and have a blast on your trip!

Thank you, though! The day is creeping closer… and closer… I think I need a nap just thinking about it!
