Four months, already?! That’s how I felt when Red was that age (How long ago it seems!). He had already shot up into a 9 month outfit and was nowhere near done growing… The four month wakeful period was amazing; he was up for over 8 hours at a time. And I was tired… really tired.
My parents graciously purchased Red a jumperoo, and he was growing into it fast, but my go-to baby-pleaser was Sophie the giraffe. She had already been by our side for several weeks and was well loved. Hopefully you can find some suggestions below that will enrich your child’s fourth month or grab some ideas for your baby registry!
1. Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Jumperoo – As much as the swing is a time and sanity saver for earlier months, as soon as your baby can hold his head up, a jumperoo is a fun, supervised time. Red was eager to sit and play with his toys, and as he grew, he LOVED to jump and jump and jump. Until he grew out of it, the jumperoo was a staple of our living room.
2. Bumbo Floor Seat – Please note that this is a FLOOR seat. It’s not meant to be placed in another chair, or on a table, or any other raised surface. Ignore your own common sense and follow the directions. If you do, you will have a perfect, happy little seat to help you occupy and entertain your baby. Get one inexpensively at a resale shop or get one on loan from a friend!
3. Sophie the Giraffe Teether – Sophie is the number one toy in households for a reason! The all natural rubber provides sensual stimulation for baby. Sight (spots), sound (squeak), touch (rubber), taste (great natural texture) and smell (again, natural rubber) sensations are all stimulated. It may be a bit more pricy than standard teething toys, Sophie is worth EVERY penny!
4. Infantino Vibrating Teether – If your baby isn’t into freezing cold teething rings, this is a fabulous alternative. The vibrations are activated when baby bites down, sending soothing vibrations into the jaw, helping to relieve teething pain.
5. aden + anais Muslin Sleeping Bag – In the cool winter months before baby can have blankets in the crib, a sleeping sack is indispensable. It easily zips open and shut to allow for nighttime diaper changes and keeps baby’s feet warm while he snoozes. We owned two; one was in the crib and the other was in the wash cycle. They are so loved by moms, you’ll have a hard time finding them on consignment, but keep your eyes peeled!
