5 Holiday Gift Ideas for Pets

Thank you to I and Love and You for sponsoring this post and for the new Total Pet Care grub for Doo! #myilypet

Last year’s Christmas was great.  We opened swaths of presents, ate Monkey Bread, celebrated each other and filled our hearts.  It wasn’t until we were cleaning up the ribbons, bags, boxes and tags that Red wandered over to Kevin, our fish, and asked why Santa didn’t bring anything for him.  After all, Santa had brought him and his sister some gifts, and Red was certain that Kevin had been good for all 6 months of his fishy life.  Yes. Santa forgot the pets.  Oops…..  This Christmas, I’ve made space on for each of our pets on the Christmas list, the cat, the dog and the fish.  No one will be left off.  If you’re a baby parent or a pet parent, here are a few gift ideas for pets to get your Christmas list rolling!

Gift Ideas for Pets; don't forget Fido on Christmas!

A New Bed

Go take a peek at your pet’s bed… I’ll wait.  Okay, what was the state? Holes? Hair? Less than fluffy pile? If it’s been a few years, you might want to invest in a new fluffy dog bed for your dog.  Or your cat, for that matter.  Perhaps sewing a new cover that’s washable and fresh is more up your alley? Either way, a new bed goes a long way under the Christmas tree!

Toys

Kitty actually “kills” off more toys than our dog ever could!  Catnip mice, feather packs, and our no-sew  homemade fishing rods have short lives due to her hunting efforts.  New balls and catnip packs always make their way into her stocking so she can keep her activity level up.  Dooley prefers visits to the dog park, and well, Kevin can always use a new fishbowl castle to tour.

Accessories Galore

Accessories like a new dog collar are always welcome.  Dooley has his UGA collar that he loves, but we also have a few leashes to choose from, as well as disposable bags, a yard stake, and tether for warm spring days, and even a fleece coat for winter walks.  I’m sure if you browse your local pet aisle for five minutes, you’ll come out with armfuls of gifts for your whole pet family!

Pampering Items

Who doesn’t love a little pampering? Head to your pet store or your local groomers to snag a gift card, a new set of nail clippers or even a new bottle of shampoo if you’re a do-it-yourselfer.  As much as you love a shower and to brush your hair, it feels even better to your pooch to be clean and get a bubble massage.  While your pet might be able to play with a gift card to the groomers, they will certainly appreciate all the love that goes into a good bath!  Pro tip: shampoo bottles like these slip into a stocking easily and fill it up!

Food and Snacks
gift ideas for Pets: toys, beds, snacks and more.

YUM! I know Dooley is always at my feet when I’m cooking, setting the table or yes, eating (big surprise there).  Although I can’t feed my “nose with a stomach” everything I’m eating, I want to make sure he’s happy.  You may know that Dooley has a heck of an allergy list when it comes to his kibble, including chicken and corn, which is in just about EVERYTHING.  I have to read ingredient lists from top to bottom for everything from treats to medicines.  If I’m not careful, I end up with one itchy Bulldog who’s miserable and scratchy.  I found a great food (Nude Food Simply Sea) with I and Love and You that’s not only free of ALL his allergens, it also features real meat as the first ingredient, and is completely absent of corn, wheat, rice, oats, barley.  Once I kept reading, the tick marks on my stringent dog chow requirements list were filled; no fillers like white potatoes, his preferred seafood recipe flavors like Salmon + Trout, and some digestive support for his old-man belly.

Whatever food you may be feeding your pet at the moment is worth taking a look at.  I and Love and You provides one of the first at-a-glance comparisons to almost every food we have offered our dog and more of the popular brands.  You can see more about the kibble comparisons here.  And when you’re ready, transitioning your pet to “I and love and you” food is the same as any other food swap.  This handy graphic makes it easy to understand proportions and timelines:Feeding Guidelines for transitioning or changing pet food. Sponsored by I and Love and You.

If you’re like me, you want to save a few bucks while you’re shopping for all the holiday goodies.  I and Love and You has a great coupon to use for your purchase here.  If you need some help finding I and Love and You near you, use this handy store locator. We have a few locations near us!  Usually, you can’t find fancy dog food anywhere but fancy dog food stores. Not anymore. Fetch a bag of Naked Essentials kibble where you shop for your groceries – at your local supermarket or with your favorite online retailers (hello, shopping in your PJs!).  Products like kibble and treats are available at Kroger stores in addition to their other retailers like Target.com, Amazon.com, Chewy.com and more.

We just got some grain free and my dogs love it! Normally when my dogs switch food their bellies can’t handle it but they weren’t even phased. Which leads me to believe that it’s a similar formula but much cheaper!!! Hooray!

You can never go wrong with food and treats for the fur babies. The kids love picking out new toys for our 2 cats. (Yes they have stockings too!)

Ok – so I am a kitty person, and am ALL about the pet gifts! I am always getting my kitty a gift – no matter the time of year! That fishing pole is genius! Sometimes I feel like I get more of a cardio workout than my kitty!

I’m not a pet person…I have pretty bad allergies to fur….but my teen sister who still lives at home has two Yorkshire puppies and it’s always fun to see what she gets them.

Pets are like members of our family, so it only makes sense that we get them a gift too. I don’t always wrap up a gift for them though since they get new toys and treats monthly.

I love the accessories! That is what our girl will be getting this year. That was a very helpful food transition guide too. This food looks really yummy and healthy which is something our dog can always use.
