A few years ago when Red was only 2 months old, Mom flew in from Texas and we took a trip to see Granny. 94 years old at the at the time, Granny was so taken with Red. She was proud to have her first great-great (not a typo!) grandbaby to love on.
And he loved her right back. It was during that trip that Mom, me and Nana took a 5 generation photo with Granny, and I consider that so cool. Most people can only boast about a 4 generation photo, and while that’s great in it’s own right, I had a chance with five.
This past Saturday morning, early in the wee hours, Granny passed at the ripe age of 97. Had she met October with that mischievous gleam in her eye, she would have been 98 years old. Nana was with her that morning, and while Granny had been ailing for a little bit, no one really wanted her to be in pain, or to go. It’s never easy. I know I’ve shared this photo before, and I’m glad I didn’t wait then, but today’s Mommy and Me Monday is a whopper. I’m sharing four Mamas and a little Red again.
Did you know that my name, Lindsey, comes from our family? I was named for Granny’s mother, Grandma Lydia Lindsey (as I knew her). Granny herself is from the Lindsey family, and that means I am, too. I’ll be visiting lots of that part of the family this week and remembering Granny. If you have some extra room in your week, just send us some hugs. Big hugs, and thank you.
Aww, such beautiful photos. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss.
Awww….Lindsey, I got chills reading this and looking at the photo of you all of you. So very special. You’re right, losing someone is never easy. Prayers for you and your family.
This is so funny to see the evidence left behind from his little crime! He is growing up and becoming sneaky!
Such a sweet and special picture! I love the story of your name, too. (Did I ever tell you I wanted to name B Lydia?)
Prayers for you and your family. What an awesome photo! A gift for generations to come!
