I know what you’re thinking. It’s about d@#n time she posted this. Doesn’t she know it’s almost Christmas?! And I hear you. I promise. But with our cruise falling the weekend after Thanksgiving, catch up on crazy work, family, work, decorations (that still aren’t done…) and a sick little guy, this post was super delayed! Forgive me…
My family had planned to trek from different states to our home in Georgia. Although my brother ended up having to work (He’s in the Coast Guard. Thanks for serving, Ty!) my Mom and Dad trekked over a few days before Thursday to spend some time with us. I full on panicked after the holiday week hit. I had the menu planned, shopped, prepped and had the house cleaned (and carpet scrubbed, too). Hubs tended the yard full-on for the last time this year and I realized that I had done NOTHING to decorate for Thanksgiving, which prompted this little convo:
Heh heh. At least I had a tablecloth and nice china. But those grinches I celebrated with wouldn’t let me use a SCRAP of Christmas china… *sigh* It may not look like the cover of a magazine, but I’ll tell ya that it was delish. Garlic butter turkey, Sweet potato souffle, corn pudding, broccoli casserole, rolls, gravy, and of course, cranberry sauce shaped like the can. Nothing else will do. Don’t try to foist your real cranberry sauce on me. I’m not having it.
Christmas FINALLY came just before we ate. Santa made his debut in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, and Nonna and T brought Red his big present. Since they were in town for a few days, they were itching to see him open and play with the gift. I took about a thousand pictures as he opened the paper; Red was SO HAPPY to see a Bucky ship staring back at him. I swear he played with it for a week straight, even trying to take it to bed with him.
Later that night, we played sorry, and Hubs pulled from behind for a surprise win. We’re all convinced that he cheated. 😉 Overall, the holiday was NOT overwhelming, cooking for 4.5 was a breeze (I just wish I had 2 ovens) and time spent with family was A+. Let’s do it again next year!
Did you host, visit or potluck for Thanksgiving?
Lindsey Paris says
We hosted for Thanksgiving. I found that it wasn’t as stressful as I thought it would be but it wasn’t perfect either.

We always do a pot-luck kinda thing with my mom and sister for every holiday. We weren’t really sure where we’d have it this year with my dad being sick and on chemo and everything but I was prepared to have it here even though it didn’t happen that way. Your tablescape looks amazing… like right from the cover of a magazine! 😉

ROFL at your conversation! For me, it’s not Pinterest, it’s Instagram! If I don’t share it on Instagram, it’s like it might as well not even have happened!

We’ve been home and done Thanksgiving every year here….and it’s been good. This year, I only made a turkey breast and I do the sides down a lot, and that really helps.
And, no China..we like to look at ours in the cabinet instead of eating on it!

Bahahaha! Oh, men. It’s totally about making it picture worthy! :-p Yay for Bucky’s ship, it’s a favorite here.
