It’s no surprise that Hubs and I love UGA as much as we do. With 2 University of Georgia degrees, a bulldog named Dooley, and an entire room in our house decorated with gameday paraphernalia, I think you can say we are super fans. I’ve not gone to a game in 2 years because Red has been too little for me to be comfortable going, but this past weekend, we headed to Clemson, SC to tailgate with friends and send Hubs and his buddy to the game. (Thanks, Dad, for the tickets!)
Being a costume designer, I find one of the best parts of gameday to be the game day apparel. Now, I’m not talking the body paint and hairy wigs you’ll find on the front row, but getting all themed and prepped up is really fun, especially when you have a little guy in tow. However, having a boy, I notice the complete LACK of cute game day clothes as most of the options are in the girls section. Boys just seem to get neglected. I took to the internet months ago to search for an affordable, trustworthy cute tailgating outfit option for Red. I soon found JV Clothiers and was mooning over the UGA selection.
I chose the black gingham short with embroidered “G” logo, and a red polo with the same. A sturdy red fabric belt with double D rings and a UGA logo capped off the outfit. The shorts came with an internal, adjustable waistband on either hip to be sure to fit Red for a few seasons. The polo fit similarly to a ralph lauren shirt; slim and a little long, so I chose a size up in each option, washed and dried them, and tightened the waistband to fit. It was a little big, but I’m confident by the time playoffs come in late December and January he’ll still be able to wear the shorts, and hopefully the shirt will still fit next year.

The fabric quality for each piece was really nice. The shorts have a bit of stretch to them, so kids are comfortable as they learn to play cornhole (or use the boards as race car ramps, like Red did). The polo withstood all our snack spills and washed clean. I even ironed over the logos with a cool iron (this is not recommended, but knowing my fabrics so well, I did it anyway with no problem).
Red had a great time running around (read: we did not sit down at all for a few hours) and playing with the cornhole boards and beanbags. Our tailgate had music blasting, which Red took for a dance party and demanded that both Hubs and I dance with him multiple times that morning.
All in all, it was a HOT day, so Red couldn’t stay out too long. On the way back to the house, Red crashed and napped for a minute. His outfit was even cute under the seat belts.
If the awesome game day offerings aren’t enough, Jv Clothiers is being gracious enough to host a giveaway with me. One lucky reader will win an entire outfit (shirt, shorts and belt) courtesy of JV Clothiers. How cool is that? I promise you will LOVE it.
