I’m a big supporter of the American military. The sacrifices they make on our behalf are astounding, and the combined knowledge, service and heart of these men and women are incredible. A lot of you might be surprised to learn that I’m also a card-carrying member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (or DAR, for short). One of our missions is to provide goods, services and funds to both active military and retired veterans all year round. When the holidays come around, one of my favorite parts of the season is to send Christmas cards to the Veterans hospital and care packages to those in service. (I’ve even been a penpal to several service members, and that is an awesome project!!) As much as I love to help those far away, there are also vets and active military that need our support stateside. Like my brother!
Having served in the Coast Guard for over 8 years, my brother Tyler has been stationed in various locations with hardship pay, specialized training, and lots of travel and rescue. He’s pretty much the awesomest at protecting our Gulf Coast. 🙂 Along from Tyler, my family has WWII veterans and a slew of Civil War and Revolutionary ancestors, too. I’m proud of all of them. This Christmas, I’m planning to send some vets a care package from Katy’s Goodness Cookies. These fresh cookies are made with GMO free wheat and only ingredients you can pronounce (I’m a big fan of that!) and come in lots of different flavors like chocolate chunk, chocolate hazelnut, chocolate peanut butter and country fruit with cashew butter. I had a chance to munch on a few an entire bag of them, and I have a feeling Santa will be served a couple of these, too!
The cookie care packages are part of the #KatysGoodness campaign, “Thank a Deserving Military Veteran.” This initiative will deliver care packages to two million military veterans and donate 3 million dollars to veteran support organizations like Easter Seals and Warriors in the Workplace. The campaign represents the brand’s latest initiative to support American military veterans’ issues and organizations. A cookie care box costs a flat fee of $30 (shipping included) and contains 6 packages of Katy’s Goodness Cookies, a thank you card, and information on organizations that support America’s military veterans with housing, jobs, education, and medical/mental health services. Katy’s Goodness automatically ships the package to a military veteran on behalf of the you, the purchaser and is sent anonymously and unannounced. As the holidays draw nearer, this is the perfect way to give generously to our veterans and active military, who do so very much for us.
So many of our veterans and active military need a Christmas wish and a warm thought. If you haven’t yet found a charitable project this season, please visit Katy’s Goodness to order a care package to #ThankaVeteran, and learn even more about the Thank A Deserving Military Veteran campaign at: http://newzbee.com/katysgoodness/
