I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Amazon Studios. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and promotional item to thank me for participating.
I remember being pregnant, thinking that my child would never watch too much TV. We would play all day long, and he/she would be smart as a whip. But as Red has grown, I realize that dinner won’t cook itself, that I need time to pee by myself, and television time can be used as a reward for Red. (And let’s face it, some inside entertainment is a sanity-saver some days…). I totally take it back. TV has a place and a time in our house, and I’m grateful for it.
Over the last three years, our family has watched movies, shorts, classics as well as brand new shows. If we’re going to have TV time, I want to make it educational, (whether we are learning colors, words, morals or manners), toddler friendly, (no violence!) and quality animation. Since I’m a designer, there’s only so many crummy visuals I can take! Amazon Studios has now released a brand new series called Tumble Leaf, which is geared towards preschoolers and full of age appropriate lessons and extremely cute stop-motion animation.
Wanting my toddler to turn his TV time into something worthwhile, Red and I logged on to Amazon Instant Video to watch an episode of Tumble Leaf (we access our Amazon Prime through our Xbox) and we were really entertained! Since we are already Amazon Prime Subscribers, we can watch all of these half hour episodes at no extra cost, and learn something in the process.
Red was very engaged during the show, staring intently at the characters and listening to what they had to say. He was most excited that the characters were animals and called each one out by name as they came on screen. I think most toddlers Red’s age would react similarly, although older kindergarten age kids would most likely be disengaged.
Click here to watch the Tumble Leaf Trailer or watch below! For more Tumble Leaf fun, Amazon Studios has already launched a free Android app featuring six games inspired by objects and activities from the show. You can download and enjoy the app for Droid phones now!
You can watch the very first episode of Tumble Leaf on the Amazon Studios website. In order to watch the other six available episodes you must sign up for Amazon Prime. An additional seven episodes will become available later this summer.
How do you make your TV time count with your kids?
How do you make your TV time count with your kids?
That looks so cute, but we don’t have Amazon Prime 🙁
That looks like it has his interest. Neat show.
We do not have Amazon prime but this show looks really cute my youngest would love this.
We have Amazon Prime but I haven’t seen this one yet. We’ll be checking it out.
Sounds like a great show for toddlers. I don’t have Amazon Prime but it’s nice to see that they produce quality TV.
Dawn has Amazon Prime I will let her know about this….good for Davey.
We try to limit my niece’s tv watching to only educational programming. She was starting to get bored with some of the show’s she’s been watching so I’m glad to have another to tell her about!
These digital animations are so cute for the kiddies. He looks like he was really into it too!
M and Peanut ran over to watch the embedded clip with me! That is a big deal- they stopped watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates to see it!
TV time is so crucial to development or should I say “lack” of it. I agree it needs to be well spent time and this looks like the perfect program for my little one. Thanks b/c I am so picky with selections.
We had the same thoughts about TV before our son was born! We made it to 19 months before he watched any television (he ended up with a double ear infection and we turned to Sesame Street to help keep him on the couch.) This looks really cute, and we’re Amazon Prime members. I’ll check it out tonight!
I think the characters on this are just too cute! I love when you can find good shows like this to entertain kids while you’re cooking or peeing. lol
Okay, this sounds like the perfect show for my kiddo! Unfortunately he loves TV all too much so this would be the perfect show to make sure that his TV time counts!
It’s really easy to think we won’t let our kids watch tv… until we actually have kids. 😉 This looks like a really cute series!
I think this is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. And, yeah, our kids would never watch tv, either! Ha
What a neat series. I’ll have to find this for my boys, they would enjoy it. I make TV time count for my kids by limiting the time they watch it and making sure they are getting something positive out of it.
That looks so sweet! I hadn’t heard of this new series yet. Thanks!
Looks like I’m going to have to check this one for my kiddo! He loves cartoons.
This looks so cute! Love that there is an app too! Thanks for sharing!
Such a cute cartoon series! I love when it’s fun and they still learn. Win win
Ha! Parents everywhere are nodding their head at your opening comments. I too thought TV would have no place, but sometimes it really is nice, and we’re careful w/what we let the kiddos watch.
I will have to check this out, my son is 3 and he loves umi zoomi, I can appreciate the math in the show, but I would love to broaden his horizons.
That sounds like a fun show. Love the colorful characters! – Jenn @ The Rebel Chick
It is so hard to find good TV for little ones. Glad to see something so cute!
Educational is key to me. It’s got to engage my kids in learning. This new show definitely has your little guy engaged!
What a cute show! (And we are huge Amazon Prime fans!)
The graphics on that show are adorable! If it’s educational as well as engaging then it’s a total winner. Download for free with prime… super bonus!
So cute. I love the bright colors & graphics. If my kids were younger I would feel comfortable letting them watch this show for sure.
Oh, this looks like something my little one would be into! I love the bright colors, too.
This looks like something my kids would have loved when they were younger. They are “too big” for this show now but it does look cute.
Cute! Your son is super into the show, obviously. lol
That looks really cute. I can see how this would appeal to younger kids.
I like it when I discover a television program that benefits my children and helps them to learn and enjoy learning.
Your son is so flipping cute! We need to check out tumble leaf too!
