I posted before on how to make your own baby food. I’ve also mentioned how it freaks me out to try to blend meat. Something weird and freaky about that. I’ve been getting Red his proteins through beans, cheeses, and small pieces of chicken that he will pick up and eat.
But there had to be a better way! I came across something at Publix that I’d been using for years to cook and add meat to dishes – diced ham. Why had I not thought about this before?

Cumberland Gap Ham |
The ham from Cumberland Gap is already diced from a ham steak into teeeeeny little pieces, and I’m really paying for convenience here, but at less than $2 on sale per pack, DONE. It will last a long time, in the fridge. I mixed it with assorted veggies once it’s on Red’s plate and he really liked it! I’m a ham freak myself, so I’m not surprised he took to it.
While he was munching away on some little pieces I set out, I set towards the food processor and made some fruits, peas and peaches.
Full fridge! (Don’t mind the beer….) |
After the ham made it’s way into his veggies, he wanted more! I’ve even caught him sucking a ham piece or two AFTER lunch was finished. Just like my brother as a baby. Gotta savor that bacon as long as you can.
