Yes, we’re members of the adopted elf community. In fact, Hubs knows one of the authors! We were incredibly lucky to have been given a hand-delivered signed copy of the book along with a RED headed elf! π Hermey’s a dark-copper haired beauty.
It’s only been three days since he’s made his first appearance in the house, and already Red calls him by name. “Er-Mee” gets pointed to throughout the day, and it melts Hubs and I. But more about Hermey: Hermey wants to be a dentist, and rarely goes to elf practice. He’s an “In-de-pen-dent” and likes to make new friends. π
Now, I’ll tell you, we do NOT participate in elf nonsense. If you own an elf, or know someone who does, you’ll know the entire premise of adopting an elf is so that he may report back to Santa each night about your behavior. So an elf shouldn’t cause mischief or messes, because that would be hypocritical!
Yes, I’m sure the elf will hide in silly places, or make art, and do some good deeds here or there. Perhaps we’ll get a little more creative as Hermey lives with us over the years. But monkey-see monkey-do, and I want to set a good example!
Leave me some comment about your nice-elf activities or what you and your family named your Elf – I want to hear all about them!
Our elf just came to our house today! Thatcher named him “Inkle”. We are so excited to have him staying with us for the next few weeks! Seriously, I am so glad that I saw your FB post, or Inkle may have forgotten to find a new place to sit tomorrow π
Yay! Inkle – very cute. Trust me, yesterday morning I almost forgot to switch Hermey to a different place. It was worth taking the minute to do so, Red almost gasped when he saw him in a different place! π
