Looking for a Disney Trunk or Treat idea? I’ve got you covered with an easy Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Trunk or Treat with a Mousketeer costume! It cost me only my handout items (Mickey Mouse stickers), a piece of poster board, and my balloons. Everything else I already had! (Affiliate Links are used)
The Mouseketeer Costume
For an easy Mousketeer Costume, I pulled my Unique Vintage Blue Skirt from a few years back and combined it with a standard crewneck long-sleeved shirt. While my blue skirt has been sold out for a few years, this adorable blue plaid number is still available, and would look SO CUTE with this outfit!
I then donned my Minnie Mousketeer fascinator by Hat and Mouse. I get so many comments on it when I wear it! Lastly, you’re not a Mousketeer without your name on your shirt! I used a scrap piece of fabric and my embroidery machine to whip up my name, but you can use craft paint in a pinch. Can you spot my $30 Mickey CZ earrings? They are so shiny one guy mistook them for real… no way! But heck, I’d wear them either way!
The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Trunk or Treat
I first got the idea for this Trunk or Treat when Scarlett’s school at the sign-up. Previously, I had done a Pirates of the Caribbean trunk, a Millenium Falcon Trunk and well… I’m a girl with a theme. I choose designs that utilize a LOT of what I already have. D23 had sent me Mickey Mouse Clubhouse balloons with vintage styling, so that was a no-brainer. I had them inflated at Publix for a few dollars each, as well as picking up some solid colors in theme.
Being a Disney family, we are also up to our ears in Disney plushes. I collected a Minnie, Mickey and Goofy from my stash and set them on top of a black piece of fabric draped in the trunk. This was so I could hide their supports as well as my speaker box, from which I played Mickey Mouse Clubhouse music!
I made the Mickey Head sign from a piece of posterboard I had in the basement, using Sharpies and Acrylic paint. It’s not the best Mickey I’ve ever drawn, but it got the job done and all the Trick or Treaters knew what the theme was! I should have used my Artograph projector to get the proportions just right, but I was a few months from buying it!
The show “curtains” are just two red plastic tablecloths leftover from a party 9tied in a knot and draped through the arm supports), and the black streamers were leftover from a party, too. I used frog tape to suspend everything from my tailgate. I will say that it was a WINDY day, so the balloons had a heck of a time staying put. I stood out in front and handed out Large Mickey Mouse stickers to all my trick or treaters (we have a lot of VERY little kids and food allergies, so I stick to non-food items).
This was the year that Scarlett dressed up as the Old Hag from Snow White, and she ADORED being creepy and original. There were far too many superheroes and My Little Ponies for her. I adore her individuality and I hope she keeps it forever!
Thank you for the inspiration! I am sooooo doing this for our school’s trunk or treat!
This looks like an extremely fun event!
