It’s Christmas, y’all! And MAN, have we been busy celebrating. Scarlett decided that a few days before Christmas she was going to get a 103 fever which didn’t respond to Tylenol combined with an upset tummy, causing us to jot down in our baby book the first visit to urgent care. Red, on the other hand, remained well and had his first Mommy and Me “Starbucks.” I had the seasonal “pagan cup” brewing a creme brûlée latte while he sipped on a rather large cup of milk. He was so happy to be at the “Circle Store” (Target) and have a drink just like Mama’s.
On Christmas Eve, Scarlett was feeling a little better with her fever being gone, so we joined some friends and family at my husband’s family church for a children’s candlelight service. Scarlet wore my first Christmas dress, and although it was a swampy 75 degree day in Atlanta (trust me… NOT normal for this time of year!), everyone was cheery and trying their best to be “wintery.”
The next morning, Red was overjoyed to see that Santa came! Being four years old, his long term memory is kicking in, and his capacity to make and retain memories is surprising me everyday. I spent hours making Our elf brought Santa Sacks from the North Pole for Santa to fill. Santa no longer has to wrap anything…. The kids were adorable in their matching PJs from the Disney Store…
So adorable that all the in-laws went in and bought them for the kids. Matching cousin-friends were very excited to see each other Christmas morning and Nana and Pop’s house. Red has a special relationship with his younger cousin, since they can stir up trouble together faster than a flit.
Later that night, Scarlett and I played one-man nativity and she starred as Baby Lady Jesus under our Christmas tree. Somewhere, I have a similar photo of Red doing the same thing. Scarlett was a HAM for the camera.
The Christmas festivities didn’t stop there. Grandmartha made a special visit for lunch the day after, and I was very very happy to see her. Due to Ellie being sick last week, we didn’t get to take her to lunch, so I hope she knows that she still has a lunch date on us dangling by a raincheck. Scarlett made sure to get some kisses over dessert, in any case. <3
My parents made a huge 14 hour flight-connection trip Alaska, where my brother is serving in the Coast Guard. While I missed them all very much, they sent lots of photos touring the base and the Jay-hawk helicopters. Hopefully they will be able to spend next Christmas with us and see the kids open presents from Santa!
Were you able to celebrate Christmas with family or friends?
Awww, such adorable pics! Looks like you and your family had a very nice Christmas. 🙂
I love that she was able to wear your dress! And, goodness it was balmy! I was in short sleeves and our church had the air cranked to full blast!
