The long-coveted wall baskets

I have a “filing system” for all the important papers in the house… Mom hates it.  And sometimes, I hate it.  For the past …gulp… 2 years every time a bill is paid or notice comes in, or special receipt needs to be kept, it gets stacked next to the mixer. I eventually bought an accordion folder that I file these into once a week, but those papers STACK UP.

If those papers aren’t enough, coupons get a stack, mailing boxes reside and overall clutter tends to gravitate here.  And it all starts with those files.  By the way, this is a photo I took after I wiped the counters and tried to straighten up the files… the regular mess that sits here most days is god-awful!!!

I have the perfect wall in the kitchen for some vertical space – near the working triangle, plain, long and tall.  Right now I have an apron hanging on a 3M hook that’s leftover from Christmas. And some holes from the previous homeowner.  Cause, you know, that’s how I roll!

I finally chose some baskets after hemming and hawing over a hundred different choices on Pinterest.  The Ballard Design Wall Pockets were for me. A splurge, but sometimes the visual calm that is provided by a project like this is more beneficial than just the dollar value.  2 weeks after deciding, I ordered two of them to stack on the wall.

After Red went to sleep, out came the hammer/bits/drill/anchors/screws/levels/pencils/stud finder until I got everything just right.  The end result is squealing-ly cleaner. Organized, useful, trendy and fashionable!  I might just use that mixer to bake a cake instead of being a massive paperweight!  Ahhhh the joys of being organized. I am so happy with my purchase, and I can report on one full week of a paper-less countertop!  Now all I have to do is make some snazzy labels!

They look great. I don’t have a space for them, either. Our papers end up behind a cup of pens/pencils.

I promised myself no papers on the counter in 2013. Let’s see if it sticks!

I often overlook walls as a place to hang things and get organized.
This week I’m working on switching to the new Blogging Planner I reviewed to organize my posts, income, brand ambassadorships and freelance work.

That’s a ton of stuff. I’m still such a “free spirit” blogger – I’ll have to check out your planner!
