I feel that we have had an overabundance of cold and sick in the last month. It seems like as soon as November/winter hits, all we have are runny noses and ear infections. In March/April/Spring? Nothing for months. It’s a good time. This was Red on Friday, all happy and playing with a silly Christmas Tree hat.
A few hours later I had a cranky, acting-out, achy little boy that wanted to be held and promptly passed out. On top of me. (36 pounds at over 3′ is no small thing!) And I’m sure I share these sick/hold pictures more than you would care to see over all the social media platforms. My excuse? It’s one of the few times he’s still enough to focus on!
Later on, he cried to me so hard that I had to snuggle him in my bed. Once again? Asleep. Building himself a little ear infection. (Don’t worry, we had meds on hand).
All that sick and ear infection means that ear tubes are just around the corner for Red. We’re waiting on the surgery schedule lady to call us up so we can pick a slot. Hopefully the tubes will make him feel better AND help his speech improve a little bit! Did you or your kids need tubes?

I’ve been fortunate enough that my guys managed to miss that. I hope it all works out well for you soon!

My nephew had to get ear tubes in when he was 2 (he’s 16 now)- everything went well and it improved his speech! I hope he feels better soon. <3 Aunt Lizzy
Lindsey Paris says
Thanks, Lizzy! He’s getting better quickly this time. Now, to stay that way until surgery!
Lindsey Paris says
Thank you! My brother had these same problems, so at least I know what to expect!
Lindsey Paris says
Oh no! Ear tubes are no fun! I had lots of issues with ear infections when I was little. I’ve been lucky with my girls. I guess they got their immune system from their daddy!
Lindsey Paris says
i had tubes as a kid. and we’re going to see the ENT for my son so he’s likely getting them.
Lindsey Paris says
We never went through that, but I hope for a lot of relief for your little one as he gets them!
Lindsey Paris says
We haven’t but I know at the last sick appointment for my daughter, we were dealing with double ear infections and they said if she got them again we might talk about it. No infections since then so we’ll see!

My daughter had so many ear infections when she was little. We almost had to go this route but thankfully she outgrew them.

I had tubes in my ears when I was little. They drastically reduced the number of infections I had once they were put in. Hopefully they work well for Red!!

My husband and his siblings had ear tubes. My mom-in-law says they helped a lot. My kids don’t have them, but my older daughter did have procedures done where she had to be knocked out and it wasn’t too bad. As long as the surgery is early in the day so you don’t have to deny them food and drink for too long. They tell you all the possible side effects and make recovering from the anesthesia sound awful. But my kiddo was just a little cranky when she woke up, then she was playing normally within an hour. I hope Red has an easy experience too!

Great post! The food processor always scares my little one, too. Love that picture. Lol
Lindsey Paris says
Thank you! I’m a mean ol’ mama for taking that picture, but I couldn’t resist. Have fun making your own food, it’s easy!
Lindsey Paris says
Poor little Red. None of my girls needed tubes or me and the hubs. But, I know they’ve helped a lot of people. My friends’ daughter and son both had them.
Lindsey Paris says
Oh, poor baby! I hate how it comes on so fast! Luckily, my son hasn’t had too many ear infections but we have friends whose kids have had to. I hope he feels better SOON!
Lindsey Paris says
Oh no!! I hope Red is feeling better soon. I love how your furry family members are around him. Looks like they hate when Red is sick just as much as you do. It is so cute!!
Lindsey Paris says
Oh no, I hope he doesn’t have to get tubes!
Lindsey Paris says
I didn’t ever need ear tubes growing up, but I know quite a few kids that did. It ended up making a big difference for them, so hopefully it makes Red feel better, too! Love seeing him surrounded by all his “buddies” in that bottom photo, too – very cute!
Lindsey Paris says
I am blessed because neither myself nor any of my children has ever needed ear tubes. I hope a time slot opens up soon so that our baby can feel better.

Poor baby! My boys used to get ear infections all the time. It was awful.
