Pineapple Prep – cut your own fruit at home

If you have a family like mine, we can really eat some fruit. If you have a husband like mine, he’s a picky fruit eater. Hubs won’t just eat any fruit.  He likes it straight from the fruit department, all cut up and ready for consumption. For some reason, he won’t is too lazy to cut his own fruit (I won’t do it for him, either) and therefore his fruit intake is down… and our wallet is threatened from pre-cut fruit purchases.
To trick him (Hubs, I hope you’re not reading this!), I bought several whole fruits and chopped them up myself, placing them in a fruit-department-like bowl.  I’ve heard many people claim that a pineapple is too hard to chop. Nonsense! Simply cut the tops and bottom off, trim the sides down, cut the four sides off the core, and chop to your preferred size. It couldn’t be easier!
The best part?  A bowl of pineapple costs around $7.00, but a whole one at my local store was only $2.50! LOTS of savings. And, Hubs didn’t know the difference!  What gastro tricks have you been up to?
