Red has been getting into finger foods more. He’s graduating from the purees and feeding himself more, despite how messy it can be!
One of our favorite (and wallet friendly!) meals is a Costco pizza. They run about $8 for a pizza so large it barely fits in our standard size oven. Hubs is a carnivore, so we most often choose the meat or pepperoni pizza. Sometimes I’ll spring for the margherita pizza! It looks like I have a mini carnivore on my hands in Red, too.
The pizza are pre-assembled, and all you have to do is toss it in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Perfect for a weeknight or a busy weekend dinner. And enough for a family of 2.5 to have some for lunch the next day.
I let a slice cool, and dice it up with the pizza cutter. I’ve found that Red can’t quite get to the thin crusty under layer, so I’ll peel it off for the time being. The pepperoni, cheese, sauce and bread base get devoured.
Now, the process of eating can be a messy one. These little hands get covered in food for every meal as he learns to feed himself, but nothing causes a bigger mess than pizza! (Spaghetti is yet to come!)
Red gives the term “pizza face” a whole new meaning. Mmmmmm.
So messy, so yummy! Straight into the bath for this little guy!
