2016 Princess Half Running Costume: Make it Pink/Blue!

I DID IT! I ran my second half marathon (and my second Princess Half!) in Walt Disney World this weekend, and it was wonderful.  My first half marathon left me feeling dead, broken and just glad that I finished upright.  This weekend’s race gave me a new record time, was fun, and I felt so strong! I met up with two girlfriends from college and one’s Mom for a weekend of parks, food, and running.   I’ll also let you have the full peek at my 2016 Princess Half Running Costume, Sleeping Beauty’s Make it Pink/Blue dress!

Our Matching Minnie Shirts

My costume was made from 4 shirts I bought on clearance from Kohls several months ago. Two fit properly (and made up the running tank) and the other two I bought in an extra large size for fabric for the skirt.  The skirt is actually patterned from a SparkleSkirt and sewn back onto the running shorts – I figured I could make endless costumes and keep sewing the skirts on and off… saves a TON of money in the long run, too! The white shawl portion is super soft tulle material gathered and stitched on. I used runguard all over my shoulders and it never bothered me at all.  The calf sleeves were bought from Crazy Compression (the owner sweetly let me purchase a mis-matching pair so I could be half pink and half blue – it was awesome!), but my favorites are still my Zensah sleeves.  My Sleeping Beauty crown is glitter scrapbook paper ironed onto extremely stiff fusing and tacked onto my running visor (I can’t run with sunglasses – they fall right off!).  What do you think?!

My gals ran as Minnie Mouse, Tinkerbelle and the Queen of Hearts.  We all finished the race, and I was so proud of all of us – we had very different paces, so we ran separately, but met up at the end for snacks and a MEDAL photo!

I made sure to stop in the shortest of lines for race photos. I snagged some with Buzz Lightyear, Jack and Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas), The Magic Kingdom train and Princess Minnie (that most people didn’t see right before the finish… she had NO line!).  I love having a few character photos to have in my albums!

How strong and awesome do we look? I’m proud of these ladies and I’m already starting to think about what runDisney race we can do together next! Who’s up for another one?!

SO FUN!!!! I really want to run this one year. I have another friend who ran the half this past weekend, and I’m dying to hear all of her stories!

Congrats on finishing feeling better and stronger and with a better time. It looks like a blast and the only way I’d want to run!

Great job….I’ve wanted to run it for years. Maybe next year I can join you in doing it! I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.
