I know this post looks like it’s about the “smash” cake – but I promise that’s coming at a later date! I have a friend downloading some video she was kind enough to capture while I had my hands full with cake-baby!
This cake was lovingly made by Miss Mamie’s Cupcakes, Cakes and Such in Marietta, GA. You’ll know that I LOVE her delicious work so much I’ve made her our family baker and go to her shop all the time… so much that all the employees know my name. heehee. (P.S. Hit up her facebook page to see more items that she custom creates, and read up on her Cupcake Wars on Food Network WIN!)
Anywho, I went to Mamie to create Red’s first birthday cake. With a Cinco de Mayo theme, I brought a mini pinata to them I found in a local shop. “Bake a cake around this!”, I said. “Make it colorful, fun and display a 1 on the front!”. And did she deliver! Check out the fun buttercreme cake she made. (I don’t really have a taste for fondant, but it sure is pretty and a great accent!) Margarita flavored with lime frosting between the layers, I almost didn’t get any cake! My Aunt Pat had to slice a piece and hide it in the microwave so I could get some!
Even Red loved his cake. I think he wanted to stick his hands right in it, but I wouldn’t let him destroy such a delicious work of art.
Your cake is as cute as you are!
Thank you!
