Our little man finally decided to do it. He’s been walking with help for over a month now. At 12 months, he was taking 2-3 steps and then face-planting on the floor. It was only a matter of time before he took off. And we waited. And we waited.
And 3 days ago, he casually walked by himself in the kitchen 7 full steps with a controlled descent to get to Dooley. I was at tech rehearsal, and Hubs was watching the boys that night. He called me in an excited panic with the news. AWESOME!
Now everyone has tossed out their unsolicited advice: “Oh, now your life is over!”, “You’re really in for it now.”, and “He’s going to be so fast!”. But have you seen this baby crawl? He’s faster than I can walk.
But now he’s taking more and more steps everytime he tries. Red can’t stand up without holding onto something, so he’s “knee walking” when there’s not a coffee table or a helping hand around. I’ve been trying desperately to get it on tape, but you’ll have to settle for Red walking with his push toy. I promise to try and get some video this weekend.
Dad always said he’d walk for the dog first and not Hubs or me. Turns out, he was right! 🙂
