Everyone’s been talking so much about back to school (myself included) that we’re forgetting to get back to ourselves. That can mean back to blogging, back to work, or even back to renewing ourselves. With a new house, a new baby, and a new routine, I am in need of some serious me time, but how do I get it? I can only escape Scarlett for an hour or two before she’s back on the boob, which means time away is limited. So where do I feel the most pampered without leaving my house? There are two places that I can think of immediately. My awesome clawfoot tub and my bed.
It’s easy for me to hand over Scarlett to Chase for 30 minutes while I soak away the day and take a moment to breathe. Follow that up with a nursing session before we all hit the hay, and slipping into the freshly washed white sheets of the king size bed is something that dreams are literally made of. These are the two spaces that I’m choosing to refresh in order to give myself that peaceful feeling I get when I spend time here.
Our bathroom, while updated and beautiful, has a lot of old remnants holding it together. The much-loved, 7 year old bath towels desperately need to be retired and replaced and the bath mats have seen better days. These old stone-blue towels that have been with us for so long are now being retired to car-washing, floor-mopping, and dog-drying. Instead, these 2 complete sets of fluffy white bath towels from Wayfair have taken their place and are oh-so wonderful. I did the family the favor of breaking them in, and it was fabulous. Supreme Luxe. I even bought two white spa mats (which are machine washable) to set in front of the clawfoot tub and shower to match.
The next spot to refresh is the master bed. When we first bought our new masterfully sized mattress, we were so excited. It was a huge expanse of sleeping area, and it was wonderful to be able to accommodate two grown humans, the occasional toddler and a giant snuggly bulldog. But the then-purchased sheets are now looking tired and worn. Not to mention that if I take the sheets off to wash, I don’t have another set to put on the bed, leaving afternoon naps an extinct species (NOT okay while having a newborn). I can’t wait for these silky feeling 600 thread count cotton bedsheets in stark white to arrive on my doorstep, ready to escort me into a nap. I’m way too excited about it. I think that’s how I know I’m a grown up.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll run that clawfoot tub full of bubbles and sink in up to my nose. I need a refresh and renew session after last night’s marathon nursing and this morning’s early rising for Red’s school!
What spaces leave you with that happy feeling? Are you planning to give back to yourself?

Oh my GOODNESS, I love that clawfoot tub. I’m in desperate need of new bath towels, I haven’t bought any is so long. The fluffy towels and new bath mats make your bathroom look like a relaxing spa. I’m long overdue to refresh my sheets too.

I’m definitely a fan of a nice bath! Add a glass of wine and a good book or Netflix binge and it’s a 10!
Redhead Baby Mama says
Mmmmm wine. IS it 5oclock yet?

I’m glad you’re getting a little pampering in for yourself. It can be a real struggle to do that when you have little ones! Those towels and sheets look awesome!

I forgot what a warm bath felt like. That’s when you lock the doors for sure

Can I get an AMEN?!

I love my laundry room. I know that’s probably weird, but it gives me a warm happy feeling in there! We are currently painting our bedroom and I am so excited that it won’t be so blah anymore. I will check Wayfair to see if they have anything cute that would make our master bedroom even better!
Redhead Baby Mama says
I can get behind that! I have a utility sink for the first time ever, and it makes me happy that I can get more done in there, too. What color is your bedroom going to be?

I am so in love with your tub. I’ve always wanted a claw foot tub. I so need to get both new sheets and towels. I see a visit to wayfair coming soon.
