Star Wars Kylo Ren Cocktail

I’ll be the first to admit it.  I hadn’t EVER seen Star Wars Episodes 5 or 6 before this year.  In fact, I’d only watched 1-3 in the theatres with friends and made a pitiful attempt to watch Episode 5 over 20 years ago with the end result of a nap.  It wasn’t really for me.  But when Red discovered a Storm Trooper for the first time last year, it was the beginning of his Star Wars obsession.  A little while later, we started watching Star Wars Rebels on TV (meant for elementary grade kids), found a Star Wars exhibit at Legoland, and eventually, Chase bought the original trilogy for us all to watch.

It was at that point that I finally got it.  I understood the draw.  The lightsaber battles, the creative storytelling, the sci-fi, futuristic awesomeness.  I started to be drawn in to Red’s world of “Dark Vader,” Light “Savers,” and the spaceships that fascinated him.  I learned backstories, catch phrases and began to have favorite characters… it was pretty awesome.

To help celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode 7, The Force Awakens, comes this fun Kylo Ren Cocktail for Mom and Dad to sip and discuss all the theories, storylines and plots of the film.  A blend of tequila, grenadine and margarita mix makes for a spiky-sweet drink with a festive sugared rim.

So what do you think of the new movie? Is it destined to be a classic like the original trilogies, or does it have a sense of the later-made Episodes 1-3?  Either way, discuss, debate and drink a round or two of the Kylo Ren Cocktail!

Of course a Kylo Ren cocktail would have tequila in it. Tequila always brings out a person’s dark side. 😉

We have tickets to see it tomorrow night. I am a little skeptical about how it will be based off of some of the rumors floating around. I will have to make this drink for our movie marathon tonight.

The Kylo Ren coctail looks yummy. The grenadine would give it the sweetness that I like.

This is so cute! We watched Return of the Jedi the other night and I didn’t remember a lot of parts I had watched when I was a kid! The drinks look like the perfect compliment to the movie, so darling!

Scouring Cable On Demand for when Star Wars Rebels plays again. A.J., like Red, would love it.
My Big Antoine is excited about the new movie too, but will probably wait until the excitement dies down so he can enjoy it without waiting in line.

How many drinks does the base margarita mix make?

I would think that the 34 oz total would make about 4-5 drinks depending on how much ice, etc.

I’m interested in this recipe, but did you really mean 30 oz of margarita mix to 1 oz of cranberry juice? That’s the way I’m reading it, but I can’t imagine 1oz of cranberry juice and a half oz of lime juice is going to do much in the way of flavor or color to 30oz of margarita mix! Could you possibly mean 3 oz of margarita mix per drink? So that the mix winds up being 50/50 liquors and mix?
