Stay Fresh in Theme Parks with Tom’s of Maine

This post was developed in partnership with Tom’s of Maine. All opinions are my own. #WhyISwitched #DeoSwitch

While I’ve said before that I’m not the greenest leaf on the tree, I’m trying to make baby steps to choose items that are better and more natural.  Compared to 8 years ago when Chase and I were married, we’re light years ahead of where we were.  I choose cleaner meats, organic foods and less processed items.  I use less paper products, recycle more and have now started to choose toiletries that avoid artificial ingredients.  I’m becoming so much more aware of what I’m wearing and what goes into my body.  Some of the products I’ve tried in the past weren’t quite a good fit for me, or I wasn’t sure if they could stand up to my expectations for a toiletry item, so I was quite unsure about switching my deodorant. As I’ve gotten older, my body has changed and needs a little more attention. Especially my underarms (read: post-two kids and in my thirties, I’m now a sweater!).  By the end of 2016, I’ll have been lucky enough to visit Walt Disney World Resort SEVEN times this year.  Florida can be a balmy, warm climate, even in the winter, so a week spent outdoors walking around means I need to be serious about stink.  I’ve got to stay fresh in the theme parks!

Tom's of Maine Deodorant

It was time for me to consider Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant.  It’s been a best seller for decades and since they have  introduced a new formula with improved scents, now’s my chance to try it!  Since my switch, I’ve learned that Tom’s of Maine Deodorant contains no animal testing and no animal ingredients. Tom’s of Maine provides clinically proven, 24-hour odor protection using odor-fighting hops and the mineral zinc and only natural fragrances.  The natural deodorant contains no aluminum, artificial fragrances, preservatives or petrochemicals! That means a little more body friendly AND earth friendly (with every purchase, Tom’s of Maine gives 10% of profits back to helping people and the planet)!  In the video below, you can watch a cook named Elise explain why she switched. It makes sense for me, too! I took Tom’s of Maine with me on a 6 day conference vacation to Walt Disney World to see if it could keep me fresh in the hot Florida weather.

Stay fresh in theme parks during the summer with Tom's of Maine ad #WhyISwitched #DeoSwitch

This is how I stay fresh in theme parks:

  1. Hair up and Styled

This might mean a secure ponytail and a pair of ears or a french braid for rollercoasters! Either way, a little prep on my part in this department pays dividends all day long.

  2. Short Sleeves and Shorts

I always check the forecast before entering a park, be it rain, sun or clouds.  I usually done short sleeves or a tank and carry a hoodie to watch fireworks during the cooler nights.

  3. Good Socks

Socks are your feet’s BFF, as well as sneakers.  I often wear my running compression socks to wick away sweat and keep my feet feeling as fresh as when I hopped out of bed.

  4. Great Deodorant like Tom’s of Maine Natural Deodorant in Lemongrass

Good deodorant is a must!! When you’re packed like sardines in a queue for your favorite ride, the last thing you want to do is be able to smell yourself or the person behind you.  My favorite scents from Tom’s of Maine to don have been lemongrass and apricot.  Slightly tropical, not to sweet and I’ll have to admit, those scents are still going at the end of the day.  That’s a win!

After a few days trekking the parks and special festivals, I thought about my routine.  Tom’s of Maine impressed me because it worked just as well as my standard deodorant.  I was really surprised.  Mark this to-do off the list, because I’ve switched to a more natural deodorant solution!  What’s your favorite way to stay fresh in theme parks?

I don’t think we can get Toms in the UK. I always use baby wipe to stay fresh in theme park. xx

These are some great tips and I think it’s awesome you are using a natural deodorant. Unfortunately the Toms ones don’t really work on me, or the lavender one from Sephora ugh. I really wish they would because they are so much better for your body. However, it seems like the only one that works for me is the Secret Stress deodorant. I really love the Toms toothpaste for my kiddos.
