Right on the heels of Cow Appreciation Day, I drug our family back out to Chick-fil-A for something our branch calls Family Night. Fun, family friendly activities or themes are held every Thursday for a few hours over the summer. This past week, it was Safety Night with our local county heroes of Fire and Police. We had a quick meal with coupons I had saved up, some Red-requested slide time on the playground, and then the big fun arrived. The Chick-fil-A cow came out to greet Red, and immediately afterwards, the big rig firetruck pulled into the parking lot.
Red was allowed to “touch a truck, please” when he asked, and even sat in the front seat, turning the wheel and waving to everyone. I think Hubs got more pleasure out of watching Red’s face and reactions than anything else.
The firemen and firetruck were from our local station, and I found out that a colleague’s husband works with them (I swear, the world is smaller every day…). We made sure to thank these brave guys for keeping our town safe day after day (and for letting Red have a turn in the fire truck!).
Next up, a local policeman from our county had his police cruiser on display, lights ablaze and front door open for “tours”. Red climbed in, and was directed to a panel of buttons that operated all the sirens. He was flabbergasted when he himself created the sounds, and was so desperate to stay in the car we nearly had to peel him from the front seat!
We made sure to get a “selfie” before we left (because you have no nowadays, right?!). Everyone was all smiles, so we call that a cheap date and a super fun night! Did your family experience anything new this weekend?
A little boys dream come true. All boys seem to love fire trucks. You should have gotten a video of his face when he hit the siren.
My son would love that! Fire trucks and police cars are a huge hit with my kids!
How exciting. My hubby was a firefighter in the Air Force until he retired last year & my boys loved going to see him on base because they always got to sit in the fire trucks.
That must of been so much fun for your little guy.My boys would love this my oldest would love the police car mostly.
I remember Graham’s first time in a fire truck. They are fun even for adults!
A boy and his love of trucks! I love it. Nothing new this weekend.. that I can remember.
a boy and his trucks. that is so cute
Getting in fire trucks is a lot of fun! My kids would love that.
Chick Fil A does such fun events! This looks like every boy’s dream!
I’m thinking of taking my son to Chick-fil-A for dinner later this week when I’m solo parenting. They have a great playground (we have a brand new one in town) and they are SO great for kids! (We were stuck indoors all weekend. The only “new” thing we did was introduce Toy Story to L.)
You got a great “usie” together! 😉 I need to take my girls to check out the firetrucks! They would love it!
What a great family event. Also love how well the selfie turned out. Such a beautiful family.
Looks like so much fun! I had no idea Chick-fil-a had events like this.
So awesome for you guys!! My uncle recently retired from the Phoenix Fire Department here in AZ. Having him work there was a huge bonus for us because we were able to go visit whenever we wanted, go on ride-a-longs, and even have the firetruck at our kids’ birthday parties! There’s not many things more awesome to a kid than a firetruck!
What a cute kid. I’ll be this is going to be one of the best memories of his youth. A fire engine AND a police cruiser? If you’d had a dump trunk in the area, you could have completed the trifecta.
What a fun event. I’m sure Red was dreaming of cows, fire trucks, and police cars for a while 🙂
Looks like Red was having the time of his life! My son would have loved to sit in a fire truck at that age. Too cool!
He always looks so happy! What a fun CFA night!
That is so sweet they let him check everything out. Looks like a great time.
