Thank you to The Escape Game for providing a complimentary escape for us in exchange for an honest review.
When was the last date night you went on with your spouse? In 2017 Chase and I had a herculean challenge of one non-child date night a month and double dates didn’t count. It was REALLY HARD to get all of them scheduled, but we did it! My favorite was the surprise glassblowing session Chase planned. All in all, we had an amazing year, but were so busy and burnt out that we did a TERRIBLE job in 2018 of having date nights. This year, we’re starting back with some really fun “escapes” (see what I did there?) and added a siblings and in laws Christmas present of a room… what a fun time! You can peek at Playground AND Gold Rush below!
Atlanta Escape Rooms – Atlanta Battery
It was very easy to book our Escape Room online at The Escape Game website, and we even received reminders for address, arrival time and parking. The Battery can be very busy during baseball season, so I recommend checking your desired room reservation against the Atlanta Braves.
After you’ve arrived, you’ll check-in at wall kiosks with amazingly soothing tactile response typewriter keyboards. Mine was such an object of note I looked them up at home to see if I could snag one. They were that cool. (On a more serious note, you’ll sign a waiver, check-in, read the rules and then prep your group for entry!)
I noted some $5 lapel pins at the checkout for purchase and I loved the packaging and design. Just by being in the welcome room, I could see that detail was King for The Escape Game. The logos, the construction materials, the stylized shopping section; this experience was going to be amazing.
The Escape Room Themeing
As for the Escape Rooms themselves, they are immersive, storytelling rooms that anyone will love, and any Disney fan will truly appreciate. Choose from Special Ops, Playground (highly recommended) The Heist and more. The hallway is a laboratory, sterile yet modern, with each doorframe to the rooms exactly alike save their names. It’s more like a wonderland hallway where you choose your fate by opening a doorway. I LOVED IT.
Once we entered our “classroom,” the excitement went through the roof. Think FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. There was so much to see, everything was colorful and we were bouncing off the walls. They even had CUBBIES for us to put our personal items in. Theming to the hilt. Our group of 6 was ready to go. This was a group date night that was going to really be a lot of fun. Each of our couples was smart, chill, and ready to play. This shot was before we wrecked the room looking for clues and digging around!
After only a few minutes we made it to the next room!!! There is so much I wanted to show you about the room, but clues are all around you. There’s no way I’m helping you cheat, especially AT SCHOOL! If you’ve never done and escape room (this was my second one), you’not really trapped. You can leave the area at any time for a potty break, water, a breather, etc. The one-hour clock will continue to count down…
Check out the HANDPAINTED murals here! I’m loving that they hired artists to paint these and not print them out on vinyl and slap them up on the walls. THANK YOU, The Escape Game, for keeping art around!
Gold Rush Escape Room
After years and years of gifting presents to all of our inlaws, we finally decided to depart from umpteen gifts and move towards a secret Santa. When we had given each other nearly everything except shelves (the only thing you can give someone that already has everything they need) we turned to give an outing as a present. We all went in on some dinner, cocktails and a fun session at The Escape Game at the Atlanta battery. These high tech escape rooms have it all! Pile 6 siblings and spouses into a room for a chance to give everyone a chance to shine! Gold Rush was a fun game, in a small space containing 3 rooms. You can get a visual of the room with these props in the waiting room. Find the cubbies near the couch!
Gold Rush is a very dimly lit game to set the scene, but you’ll find all the same great details as the Playground room. Once you take a trip down the slide, you’d better hurry to keep the mafia off your back!
Need a weigh-in to check on your gold haul??? You’d better find all the gold before the hired goons show up!
With a few minutes to spare, our cousins made it out of the Gold Rush room. We used about 5 clues, but really only hit the button in the last room. It was very challenging game with math, geometry, physics, and even a bit of sharpshooting!
The Playground Escape Room
You can watch the short preview of The Escape Game’s Playground room in the video below – don’t worry, no cheats or hints here. Just a great way to see the feel of the room! When you’re in the room to start, you’ll watch a short video clip (with characters and theme) on a monitor overhead to give you the rundown of the game, the rules, and how to finish the game. You’ll also see a few large panels with a button to call for a clue. Our host said we had three free clues (but he also said he wanted us to have fun and call for more help if we needed it). As someone who didn’t make it out of my first room, I knew to call for help when I really needed it. What fun is the room if you don’t finish????
We called for help 5 times (our three clues plus 2) and had about 6 minutes left on the clock when Chase unlocked the final padlock. I do not regret a thing. We were stuck hard early on and wouldn’t have been able to continue if we didn’t get a clue! Our host also mentioned we would need 6 bodies for Playground to be a success… it was physical! So listen to your host about the rules.
High Tech Problem Solving
Lastly, I can’t tell you how amazing The Escape Game is. They are so technologically advanced it blew my mind. Large magnetic locks, custom items and immersive rooms that I could tell cost a fortune to build. Things that don’t look like locks actually ARE LOCKS. Certain series of events must be in order before the next task set before you can be completed. Secret passages, hidden doorways, weights, and measures! They have really set up a top-class, high-tech environment for you to enjoy – you’re getting what you’re paying for! As far as Atlanta Escape Rooms go, The Escape Game is where it’s at!

Love the theming of that room!! We have done tons of escape rooms and almost all of them have been themed in a dark way so the classroom/playground theme is a breath of fresh air! Looks like a great time.
