Look up! Mary Poppins flew into City Springs Theater to kick off their second season of toe-tapping professional musicals. Featuring Kerry Conte and Broadway’s Con O’Shea-Creal, Atlanta’s newest professional theatre company presented Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s international smash-hit Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical! The show is just like the one that ran in New York City which was based on both the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney screenplay. I took my friend Joy with me for a girl’s night to City Springs Theater Company to see our friend’s work and celebrate the arts! Thank you to the theater for the two complimentary tickets!
Mary Poppins: The Musical at City Springs
(And a fun photo session with props only makes the night more exciting!) With an enchanting mix of irresistible story, breathtaking dance numbers, astonishing special effects, and unforgettable songs including “Supercalifragilistic-expialidocious,” “Feed the Birds,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” “Step in Time” and “A Spoonful of Sugar,” Mary Poppins’ award-winning score and spectacular choreography will sweep audiences off their feet!
You might remember my work in years past (not that many, either… but time flies!) at Theater in the Square, the Horizon Theatre and over 25 productions with the Atlanta Lyric Theatre! I’m happy to say that many of my friends from the pro circuit have found homes at City Springs as actors, designers, and staff. I really miss spending night after night with them!
When I got whiff of the second season announcements for the Sandy Springs, GA company, I thought it all sounded magical! (You can read more about the announcement event here: City Springs Theatre Company Second Season Announcements ) Before attending Mary Poppins: The Musical, I made sure to get a little preview in as City Springs shared their Facebook post of “Bert” interviewing on the local news station – you can see how much fun the show was!
