Continuing our date nights once a month, it was my turn to plan a little something. And to be honest, between my D23 trip and Chase’s work picking up some heavy steam, the month almost got away from me! July 31st came, so I snagged a sitter and got to work on a date night idea that wasn’t so much spectacular, but super nostalgic. When Chase and I started dating, we went to putt-putt, or mini-golf, for our first date. It was a great way to chat and learn more about each other without being stuck in a movie theatre. Years later, Chase scheduled the same date activity… and proposed on the 18th hole. It was a perfect fit for us, and putt-putt then became our sentimental date night activity.
Even though I knew we were going to have a bunch of silly fun, I wanted to raise the stakes a bit. July heat in Atlanta can be unbearable, so a neighboring town had just what the doctor ordered… indoor mini golf! Monster Mini Golf is an indoor complex, complete with spooky decor, tons of black light paint, and a campy good time. We signed up for 18 holes on a crowded Friday night and got to work… trying to WIN.
Whoever LOSES the game with the worst score…. had to buy ice cream. Sure, the funds come from the same account, but it goofily raises the stakes, adds a bit of competition, and is a lot of fun. 18 holes later (a hole in 2 and a hole in… 10), we had our winner: MEEEEEEEEEE! But only two strokes, so it was no easy victory!
Chase was a really good sport, so to rub it in, I made us take goofy photos before he bought us ice cream.
In the same shopping center, we found an ice cream joint to fulfill the bet, but it was no ordinary scoop-on-a-cone! The Mr. Roll is a unique boutique ice cream parlor (now serving poke bowls and sushi) that hand mixes flavors from liquid bases and flash freezes them on a slab. After the mixture is chopped and frozen, it’s rolled up with a scraper and put into a bowl, topped with the customer’s choice. Caramel and chocolate sauce is… free. So bring your kids when it’s not date night! I added a video of the Mr. Roll process from our date night below! What flavors would you get?

I love your story about your first date and proposal happening at a mini-golf course. Mini golf seems like a great first date option so that you don’t have to awkwardly try to eat in front of him and you can still talk and enjoy each other’s company more than at a movie theatre. I will have to remember this for my next date night, it looks like a lot of fun.
