Ever since I announced that I was skipping off to OH for the 2014 #PGPet conference I’ve been wanting to share these photos with you! The Love the Pet, Not the Mess conference, hosted by Iams, Swiffer, & Febreze, was a 36-hour whirlwind of travel, learning, meeting, blogging and fun (all expenses paid, even!)! It was my first out of state event, so with a little over-packing, I was on my way! I’ve already shared with you my love for the Cincinnati 21c Museum hotel and it’s bathrooms, but what I didn’t get to show you was the little totebag of goodies that P&G left me!
OUr first stop on the conference was Washington Park, newly renovated with a fabulous dog park, play fountains, gazebo and beautiful gardens. Each year the city hosts “Yappy Hour” for people and their pets, and of course, Iams wasn’t missing out on the fun. We noshed, talked, drank Leghumper Beer (which was actually awesome) and killed some pet trivia with Andrea Arden (who is pretty much one of the sweetest people EVER).
That night, we were free to explore the city and get to know one another, which meant that we sought and scarfed local ice cream, and then snuck into the back alley to the secret-password rooftop bar. They even had a doorman to call the elevator for us. SO secret (not really – the doorman let us in, and was kind enough to take a picture with me) and ton of fun with a skyline view! See “Peeping Tom” in the background? I had to get him in the picture too – he was too much fun in the hotels. All hotel speakeasies aside, I had a BLAST with the folks in the picture. Each one from a different part of the US, a blogger in their own right, and the newest digital friends I have.
Bright and early in the morning, we were off to the Cincinnati Zoo to learn how Swiffer, Febreze and Iams can help our pets AND reduce the mess! (after all the sessions I got to hang with some Juliette Piggies, buddy, they were sweet!)
Swiffer has a neat little gadget that uses rubber flappers like a drive to gather up large particles before it’s followed by the swiffer pad – easy to grab all that cat hair AND I even got it to sweep a little cat litter and ALL of the kibble. Win win. Plus, when it arrived at my house, Red decided it was his job to swiffer, which leaves me with one less chore to do. Score!!
The nice Febreze ladies reviewed how to use Febreze Allergen Reducer. Did you know we’re all using it wrong? Youre’ supposed to spray, let it dry, and then vacuum it all up. The micro net traps the particles and the beater bar on the vacuum eliminates it and sucks the particles, leaving your fabric surfaces totally clean. YUSS. And of course, you remember these cute kids in their febreze allergen reducer commercial. If you check out the pic below, you’ll see that I got to make a mini commercial of my own… maybe I can snag it and show you!
Andrea was back to recap some training tips, which I’ve recently implemented with Doo, and even taught him a new trick (to catch a treat). If you ever had the chance to meet Andrea, do it – she’s awesome! Last, but certainly not least, we had a session with Iams. Combined with trivia (I won a question! Wooot!) and a whole lot of cute animal photos, Iams taught us about their 4 pillars of health: Animal-based Proteins, Omega Fatty Acids, Digestive Fiber, and Customized Carbohydrate Blends for each food and treat that they produce. It was amazing to hear about how the dog and cat foods differ not only from each other, but between each blend per category. Kitty has been eating Iams hairball control her whole life with us, and the moment we tried something else, she got sick and didn’t like it, so we went back immediately. I know she loves that food like I love her (seriously… I’m comparing myself to kibble here…)
Speaking of animal love, the month of May marks the My Furry Valentine season, which is a is a milestone for the Cincinnati animal rescue community. Founded in 2012, the event brings together potential pet owners and adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and other pocket pets. The annual gathering has found homes for over 750 pets. Iams was kind enough to create some wonderful spot for the occasion covering people meeting their pets. At the #PGPet conference, we were able to watch some of these commercials and they made us all CRY! Visit www.myfurryvalentine.com for more information.
After the conference was done, I was so full of information, new friendships and loaded down with samples to take home and try. I didn’t want to leave! Fortunately, these lovely ladies have been in touch over the interwebs and I hope that you get a chance to follow Emily, Maria and Sara. Thank you to P&G for hosting me, too!
And the best part of traveling? A little snacky on the plane with the delinquent delights of Sky Mall. You know we all secretly want that 6′ tall polymer garden statue of Bigfoot. We all do…
And then there’s the Doo… He was so happy that I was home, and that I brought him all sorts of goodies from the sweet folks at Iams. Doesn’t he look happy?!

Hmmmm…Leghumper Beer, sounds delicious 😉
Lindsey Paris says
Leghumper…that’s awesome
Lindsey Paris says
Thank you so much for watching! I’m actually spoiled because my husband is a casting director, which means I have a pro camera and a shotgun mic. I almost set up my light kit, too. use a tripod for what you have and it will be great!
Lindsey Paris says
You can do it! I flubbed a bunch, but editing can help!
Lindsey Paris says
Wonderful words, Mitch! you’re right, we’re our own worst critics!
Lindsey Paris says
Thank you! It was fun… I might be hooked…
Lindsey Paris says
The colors are so complimentary, that’s for sure!
Lindsey Paris says
You did a great job on your first vlog. I’ll have to do it for my coaching business.
Lindsey Paris says
Superrrr fancy! I love how you did the cut aways to the stills (must teach me, oh wise one!)
And, I like the earrings frame. I need to make one because the bathroom is actually one place I have wall space!
Lindsey Paris says
Wow! That sounds super high-tech. Thanks for the info!
Lindsey Paris says
I’ve not ventured into the world of vlogging. I don’t know if I’m that brave. 🙂 I also just read down and saw your husband is a pro at this. How lucky!!
Lindsey Paris says
I will never have the patience for a vlog. You did such a great job. You put more on your face before you get started than I do all together! I am lucky if I even were make-up! #BloggingInMyJammies
Lindsey Paris says
You are just as beautiful in your video as you are in your photos! I give you props because I am terrified of the whole “vlogging” scene. I think I would make the video a dozen times before I actually felt it was good enough to post. You did a wonderful job though. Hope to see more vlogs in the future 🙂
Lindsey Paris says
Great video! I’ve seen a lot of the beauty bloggers get the Mary Kay box. Looks pretty good. I haven’t used a Mary Kay product in years. It looks like they’re trying to get a broader reach.
Lindsey Paris says
Congrats on your vlog! You will do great. Nice pics.
Lindsey Paris says
Great job on your first vlog. I want to learn to vlog. It’s something I plan on trying to do in the not so distant future. I had never heard of the Mary Kay box before. I really love subscription beauty boxes!
Lindsey Paris says
Congratulations on your first vlog! Honestly, I think you did AMAZING. I love the creativeness of the camera angle and the mirror, you talked directly into the camera in a very clear way, and mistakes are just a part of vlogging.
Lindsey Paris says
wow. that’s your FIRST? great work!
Lindsey Paris says
Great job on your first vlog! Loved the tips, especially regarding the Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara. Your honesty when you mentioned Cover Girl convinced me! Thanks for the review.
Lindsey Paris says
You did a wonderful job! I’d have never guessed that was your first vlog.
Lindsey Paris says
You did a great job with the video. And I like the color of the lipstick too (even if it is sticky). 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Lindsey Paris says
You look wonderful! And you did a very nice job putting together your first vlog.
Lindsey Paris says
Your dog is so cute. I wish we had a nice dog park in our area. We have a state park, but it’s not specifically designated just for pups.
Lindsey Paris says
Great video! Shh! I need to finish this review! 🙂 I don’t have the first clue as to where to start/how to edit videos but it is on my list to learn!
Lindsey Paris says
I love this concept! The clutches are cute and I am thankful that Huggies continues to make quality products for babies. Love that they are hypoallergenic!
Lindsey Paris says
Great job. Im jealous!! Totally want to make a vlog!
Lindsey Paris says
Did you have fun with the yellow penguins at the hotel? Love the tips for keeping pet hair at a minimum, since I have two shedding fur babies! Your dog is adorable!
Lindsey Paris says
Oh this looks like a blast! I had no idea there were these types of things for pet owners. I only ever see and hear of mom and baby conventions! So cool!
Lindsey Paris says
I totally need to check out that Swiffer! I have 2 short haired dogs in the house (a rat terrier and a boxer). With all hardwood floors, I’m forever more vacuuming and sweeping up dog hair. I could knit sweaters. :/
Lindsey Paris says
That is a great goody bag. So cool you got to go to this event.
Lindsey Paris says
I’m glad Doo enjoyed his treats! And that you got to hang out with Sara! (sky Mall? Makes me laugh every time..I even wrote a post about sperm shoes we saw in it!)
Lindsey Paris says
What a cool event! Looks like you had a blast. There were some awesome brands represented
Lindsey Paris says
I’m super impressed! As a fellow blogger, I’m deathly afraid of the Vlog. You did an excellent job!
Lindsey Paris says
I think you did great! I need to get on the vlog train with some of these kiddo reviews!
Lindsey Paris says
That brush set looks really great. My daughter has been asking for one so I will check it out. Hopping over to watch your video now. 🙂
Lindsey Paris says
This looks like such a fun event! I love that photo area they set up. The props are just too cute!
Lindsey Paris says
I like that they are alcohol and fragrance free
Lindsey Paris says
I love the new Swiffer. I wish I had one but… I don’t.. We have no animals but when we did I was constantly using all the Swiffer gadgets… not the cool new one. tho.
Lindsey Paris says
Oh my goodness, that last photo of the dog is just too cute for words. I don’t know what I would do without my Swiffer, they are great for quick clean ups.
Lindsey Paris says
You did a great job! I have these products too but had’t tried them yet, so thanks for this!
Lindsey Paris says
Great job! Looking forward to more videos! 🙂 I’ve been starting to get more into vlogs.
Lindsey Paris says
Ermagoodness, Doo is so cute! That kong will make him really happy. Looks like it was a fun event.
Lindsey Paris says
You reminded me of how badly I need a new brush set. Mine are older than the hills.
Lindsey Paris says
I have two dogs so this would have been a great event to attend! Very cool. We have a swiffer and use it all the time.
Lindsey Paris says
i need to clean my brushes. i always forget till I go to use them
Lindsey Paris says
I love 5 minute faces, especially since that’s how much time I have! Great for a first vlog!
Lindsey Paris says
You are too cute, Lindsey! I’m absolutely clueless when it comes to makeup and beauty… and style… and all that girly stuff.
Lindsey Paris says
Love our pets, definitely don’t love the mess! Although that never stops me from buying just one more toy…
Lindsey Paris says
This is such a cool conference – to be a be able to go learn so much about what to do with and for our pets. After all, we can enjoy our pets more when we don’t have to concentrate so much on how to clean up after them but can just enjoy them instead.
Lindsey Paris says
Great job on your first vlog! I keep thinking about making that step but oh it’s so scary!
Lindsey Paris says
That is great that you had such an amazing time at the conference. I need that new Swiffer!
Lindsey Paris says
Looks like you had a great time! What a fun conference!
