Pterosaurs and Flying Monsters 3D at Fernbank

I’m sure you have a dinosaur lover. Just like me. Between his Star Wars phase and intense undersea/Octonauts phase, Red showed a love of dinosaurs. That love incubated slowly until the summer before second grade, and then like the Hoover Dam, gushed out, flowed and inserted itself into all aspects of his life. Jurassic Park became a weekly screening; dinosaur “Rawrs” were honed, practiced and showcased. Drawings, playthings, even bedsheets became dino-immersed. When I saw that Pterosaurs and Flying Monsters 3d were coming to Fernbank, I knew Red had to be there.

We’ll be hosted by Fernbank to see the new 3D film about Pterosaurs and walk through the exhibit to see the 33ft wingspan of the giant Quetzalcoatlus. Will you join us?

“Pterosaurs existed during the time of the dinosaurs, but they were vastly different,” said Fernbank’s Director of Education, Sarah Arnold. “Pterosaurs were the first to develop flight after insects, and Flying Monsters 3D delves into just how and why they may have taken to the skies. It’s a great introduction we’re excited to offer alongside the Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of the Dinosaurs exhibit that opens February 9.”

Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of the Dinosaurs

The new dinosaur exhibit at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta will be on view February 9 – May 5, 2019.

“Neither dinosaur nor bird, pterosaurs flew with their fingers, walked on their wings, and ruled the skies. Journey through the Mesozoic Era with the largest flying animals that ever lived. This immersive exhibit includes remarkable rare fossils and casts, hands-on and digital interactives, enormous life-sized models, stunning dioramas and iPad stations with a custom app allowing guests to personalize their experience.”

Cost: Free with museum admission and CityPASS. Members of the Museum are free. Upgrade your ticket to a Value Pass and see Flying Monsters 3D (read below).
