VIDEO: Parent Pranks Kids at Snack Time

What after-school snack would you choose? Fruit? Or would you instead reach for that tasty-looking donut box?

Years ago, I saw an April Fools’ prank played in an office break room. Coworkers were offered free snacks in the afternoon by a fellow worker… and they were free to choose either cut fruit or a donut box. A sign was poised in front of the snack time prank to “choose a snack!” But the photos that followed broke me into laughter and something I wouldn’t forget. I HAD to play this trick on my kids!

And the time FINALLY CAME for me to prank them… Sponsored by SunnyD.

So, either snack might go well with a cool cup of SUNNYD, but what my kids didn’t see coming gave me laughs galore.

When my kids came home, they, too, saw the box of donuts next to the fruit and instantly made their snack decision. But with the help of a hidden camera, I got the whole thing on tape.

When the kids chose the “unhealthy” snack instead of the fruit to go with their drink, they got sucker-punched! Inside the donut box, I had placed raw veggies and a sign with a quote from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade:

Let me tell you; Red was NOT HAPPY WITH ME. But he didn’t pitch a fit, either. Scarlett thought it was hilarious, and has since asked me to play the trick on her again and again (I’m pretty sure she expects donuts every time).  But don’t worry – the kiddos were happy in the end because I ended up giving them the donut they earned with my laughs.

Here’s the full video of their reaction!

I’ve got more fun with the help of SUNNYD. Perhaps a “party plate” is best for your next snack time? SUNNYD Pancakes never disappoint as breakfast for dinner with our family. Or when that bottle is empty, turn it into a seasonal Nutcracker craft!
