Get ready to snap your fingers! THE ADDAMS FAMILY (2019) animated movie is here! On Friday, October 11th,  the kooky family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy (rated PG, 105 minutes) about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor. Y’all know I don’t need an excuse to dress up… I gathered some quick supplies to create a Wednesday Addams costume to attend the Atlanta screening on (you guessed it…) A Wednesday night. I even got a black wig to braid! Check out how I got my kiddos in on the fun for these fun The Addams Family – family costumes! (Affiliate links are used)

Yes, you can dress up, too! These “The Addams Family – Family Costumes” are easy to plan and execute. Get your Wednesday on as an adult with this prim and proper (yet dark) pinafore front dress from Unique Vintage.  Coming in at only $62, it’s a steal for a dress with vintage styling and slim-fitting lines. Re-wear the dress all season long to give your LBD a dose of darkness.

My kids desperately wanted to get in on the fun, so I found some items on Prime that were inexpensive and easy to obtain. A toddler dress available in sizes 2-12 is perfect for a Wednesday Addams costume for kids while staying active and tumbley like a preschooler should be.

Likewise, a soft striped tee in Pugsly’s new colors combined with a pair of black shorts we already owned means a comfortable and easy costume for Red. He was happy to get in on the part!

Since I’m a blonde, I had to get a black wig to braid. I’ve been keeping my hair too short to really get Wednesday Addams-style braids. this $18 gets the job done at a great price. Thank you, Amazon!

Find some other Halloween costumes that are such a treat! My homemade Scarecrow is always a hit, and Cindy Lou Who is a fun addition to pre-Christmas festivities. For a spooky touch, try out the Evil Old Hag from Snow White!

The Addams Family Movie (2019)

I think your kids are going to LOVE this movie. There hasn’t been a real shot at the Addams Family since the Anjelica Houston/Christina Ricci days, which was a personal favorite (and still is). I even used to watch the original show with my Parents, so I’m well steeped in Addams Family looks and lore. While the animation style of this new iteration is very exaggerated (I don’t find that any of the characters look like they should be in the same film), the tone of the film is strictly Addams. You’ll see many of the quirks you’re used to and a few new entertaining ones. I particularly loved Wednesday, but I’m always drawn to her in these stories. I guess that’s why I chose to dress like her!

Bring the whole family to the show, but know that your kiddos will adore the goofiness of the movie. There is no language, no sex, and just a little violence  (but it’s grounded), I think it’s well worth bringing your elementary schoolers. My preschooler will be in tow; she loves the Addams Family and all things villains! The movie opened October 11, 2019, so get to the theatres now!
